    Deershed Festival kicks off today with thousands of people expected over the next three days.

    It's on until Sunday at Baldersby Park near Thirsk.

    Creative director, Megan Evans, says it's an event with wide appeal:

    Teenage Fanclub, Kate Tempest, and The Divine Comedy are just some of the artists on the main stage over the three days.

    A British woman says she is being forced to go to court to get an apology after she was questioned by counter-terrorism police at Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport for reading a Syrian art book on a plane.

    Faizah Shaheen was reported to authorities by Thomson cabin crew on a honeymoon flight to Turkey in 2016.

    Her lawyers told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme she believes she was singled out because of her race.

    Ms Shaheen - a Muslim, whose work in mental health care in part involves looking for the signs of radicalisation in young people - was reading Syria Speaks: Art and Culture from the Frontline on the outbound flight.

    The book is a collection of literature, photos, songs and cartoons from Syrian artists and writers.

    Ms Shaheen said she does not desire compensation, but "an apology and explanation from Thomson Airways to ensure that it never happens again".

    Thousands of music fans will descend on Sheffield from today for the annual Tramlines festival.

    It spans three days and the main stage is once again at Ponderosa Park.

    A police operation is launched in York today aimed at helping to keep young people safe this summer.

    In its third year Operation Liberate aims to make sure youngsters enjoy the summer holidays safely.

    Police don't want them becoming involved in any anti-social behaviour so there'll be more police officers on the streets.

    The officer in charge says it's about setting what he describes as appropriate behaviour levels for children and young people.

    Agents working for the HS2 rail firm have lost documents relating to homes on the Shimmer estate in Mexborough, South Yorkshire.

    Staff working for surveyors Carter Jonas, who are acting on behalf of the high speed rail company, left them on a train.

    A total of 17 properties, all using the same surveyor to represent them, have been affected.

    The documents contain publicly available data on the houses, as well details of what the residents' surveyor thinks the houses are worth.

    There are also photos of two homes, and in one of them a car number plate can be identified.

    HS2 has apologised and said they take their responsibility to protect people's personal data very seriously.

    The Information Commissioner has said it's reviewing the matter.

    An £11m fundraising campaign is being launched to save the world-famous stained glass windows of York Minster.

    The money would pay for state-of-the-art protection for what are described as one of the wonders of the world.

    The people in charge of the York Minster Fund say it's a race against time to save the windows.

  8. Watch: Two furnaces dating back to 1850 discovered in Sheffieldpublished at 07:27 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Two furnaces, which are over 150 years old, have been discovered in Sheffield.

    They've been found in the city centre and shed light on Sheffield's industrial history.

    West Yorkshire Fire Authority could trial the use of body cameras to help prevent attacks on firefighters.

    They'll discuss the idea in a meeting today after recommendations were made in a report.

    But one firefighter who was caught up in an attack in Halifax doesn't think a camera would have helped her.

    Campaigners will protest outside Huddersfield Town Hall this morning in an attempt to stop the closure and demolition of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

    It was revealed last Friday that if a new hospital is built it would only have 64 beds. That's almost half the number originally proposed.

    Members of the Hands Off HRI campaign are lobbying senior officials from Calderdale and Kirklees' Health Scrutiny Committee.

    A record number of young people are being excluded from schools in Yorkshire, new figures reveal.

    Yorkshire and the Humber has the highest rate of fixed period exclusions in the country, with over 50,000 exclusions handed out to children in 2015-16.

    The figures published by the Department for Education, external show that these are the highest figures for a decade.

    A specialist centre in Yorkshire uses ex-offenders to try to get excluded young people back into mainstream education.

    The funeral of Manchester terror attack victim Kelly Brewster is due to take place later.

    Kelly Brewster, 32, from Sheffield, was among 22 people who died in the suicide bomb attack at an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena in May.

    She had gone to the gig with her sister and niece, both of whom were injured in the explosion.

    The service will feature a number of Kelly's favourite songs along with tributes from family and friends.

    Kelly was a former City School pupil who worked for Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and insurance company Aviva.

    The family has asked for donations to be sent to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
