An overturned tanker has closed the M1 southbound at J47 this afternoon.
Police say the driver has now been taken out of the cab and is on his way to hospital by ambulance.
Highways England have just issued a diversion route, external because the road is still shut as they try to recover the tanker.
There are now eight miles of queues southbound on the A1(M) as police divert traffic around the scene of the crash.
Highways England now say they don't expect the tanker to be moved until 19:00 tonight.
