Jason Leach, 46, is the founder of And Vinyly. He began pondering the possibilities of pressing ashes into records about 10-years-ago, when he found himself reflecting on mortality.

The process is the same as making a standard vinyl disc, with ashes (human or pet) added at a specific stage in production.

"It's a balance between adding enough ashes so as to be seen, but not so much as to affect the grooves' smooth playing," says Mr Leach.

He currently presses about two discs a month that have human ashes added to them, but is in the process of arranging more funding to meet rising demand.

"Of course, there are those who find it strange, even creepy," he says, "but most people actually come round to the idea."

  16. 'It was the bleakest day' - Ex-MP Mulholland on losing Leeds seat in General Electionpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Nick Wilmshurst
    BBC Yorkshire Live

Former Leeds North West Liberal Democrat MP Greg Mulholland has revealed that the day after this year's General Election, in which he lost his seat, was "the bleakest day of my working life".

    Greg Mulholland

So what else does a former MP do? Well, obviously he followed in the footsteps of Ed Miliband and Iain Duncan Smith (who are both still MPs) and took to presenting a radio show.

Mr Mulholland is currently standing-in for regular BBC Radio Leeds lunchtime presenter Andrew Edwards on the Big Yorkshire Phone-In.

I spoke to him to find out more:

    How are you finding it?

It’s great to be here. To actually be asked to present a show and stand in for someone like Andrew is a real privilege and an honour, particularly in the aftermath of losing your job and career.

    Was that a surprise?

One minute you’re working away at the top of your game involving all sorts of campaigns. You get your head down, get through the election and then you've lost – you've never had time to prepare for it. You lose your job, your career and your identity. To be asked to come here, it gives you something else to focus on.

The day after the election must have been tough for you?

It's a day I'll obviously never forget even though I'd like to in many ways and I hope I can look back and think that it was the start of a wonderful new chapter in my life. It was bleak. It was the bleakest day of my working life. Being an MP is who you are, it's your identity.

The extraordinary realisation from 9 June onwards was that having done it for 12 years, being the local MP living in the local constituency, walking out of the house people were greeting you as the MP, you genuinely didn't know where the MP started and the person stopped. Three months on, I'm still working through that. It does become so much of who you are. There was a profound sense of loss.

You were a Lib Dem MP, you’re now standing in on a BBC programme. How do balance that?

I find it very easy. I'm someone who takes seriously whatever I do. While I'm working for the BBC I will be as impartial as anyone else. I know what my views are so I'm very conscious that when I'm talking about something where I have strong views I'm not there to give people views, I'm there to ask other people their views and particularly on the phone-in I want to hear other people's views. But I will challenge everyone from a position of devil's advocate.

  19. Listen: Warning to Renault drivers in North Yorkshire village 'nothing against the French'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 31 August 2017

    Jericho Keys
    Reporter, BBC Radio York

If you're the owner of a Renault and you've been driving through Ulleskelf in North Yorkshire, you could be excused for feeling a bit got-at of late.

Road signs have appeared asking drivers of Renaults to be careful.

I've done a bit of digging and found a man with an answer to the signes de mystere.

When local councillor, John Catternach, saw the signs he thought someone local had a vendetta against Renault drivers or hated the French.

He investigated further and discovered the local airfield was home to a Renault car depot.

The cars are delivered there by transporters and the signs are aimed at the lorry drivers.

Here's John explaining the trail of his Clouseau-like investigation:
