    Construction begins today on Rotherham's new University Centre campus.

    The £10m education centre, due to open next autumn, will offer degrees and degree apprenticeships which will be accredited by Sheffield Hallam and Hull Universities.

  3. Dozens of new Yorkshire breweries listed in beer guidepublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    We all know that Yorkshire brews good beer. But it seems that brewing it has become more and more popular.

    The Good Beer Guide 2018 which is published by Camra (Campaign for real ale) also features 85 new pub entries.

    New breweries include Ainsty Ales at Acaster Malbis near York, Emmanuales in Sheffield and Chin Chin Brewing in South Elmsall.

    And a Yorkshire pub has been named as one of the top 16 in the UK.

    The George and Dragon at Hudswell in the Yorkshire Dales in in the final of the Campaign for Real Ale's National Pub of the Year.

    The pub won it last year so will be hoping that they can win it again.

    It's owned by the villagers who bought it when it was under threat.

    Protesters at the fracking site in North Yorkshire have tried to stop a number of vehicles getting to the site this morning.

    People against fracking in Kirby Misperton have been gathering again outside the plant where drilling is due to begin before the end of the year.

    The demonstrators say they'll keep a daily 12-hour watch outside the site.

    The company behind the plans insists the process of drilling for shale gas is safe.

    It's that time of year again, it's getting colder and the sun is getting lower and police are warning drivers about the low sun after this crash in Leeds:

    Police tweeted this picture after the car hit a skip in Pudsey as the sun was rising earlier this morning.

  7. E-fit appeal after indecent exposure in Endcliffe Parkpublished at 09:54 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    South Yorkshire Police have released an e-fit to try and find the man who indecently exposed himself in a Sheffield park on three occasions last month.

    At about 14:20 on Wednesday 16 August, the man exposed himself to two women as they walked through Endcliffe Park, off Rustlings Road.

    Then on Saturday 19 August, it's thought the same man exposed himself to a woman in the same park at about 10:50.

    Anyone with information about the incidents is being asked to get in touch with police.

    It's different but exciting.

    Part of York's Piccadilly is being transformed with shipping containers which will be converted into bars and restaurants.

    The project is called Spark and it's hoped that it will help new businesses to get on the ladder to success.

    The organisers of Sheffield's Tramlines Festival are proposing a move for the main stage, from Ponderosa Park to Hillsborough Park in the city.

    At a meeting last night the festival's organisers, the city council, residents and businesses came together to talk through the plans.

    It's still early days and the plans would have to be agreed by councillors, but Tramlines organisers hope a decision will be made before Christmas.

    We told you earlier about a crash on the A633 between Aldham House Land and Caulk Lane near Barnsley.

    The latest from the scene is that the crash happened at 05:38 this morning between a white van, a car, and a HGV.

    An air ambulance was scrambled, but nobody was seriously injured so it was stood down.

    The road is likely to be closed for the next hour.

    There's huge delays on the M1 northbound this morning after a lorry has overturned at junction 46 near Garforth.

    Bradford-based Morrisons, the UK's fourth-biggest supermarket chain, has reported rising sales and profits for the first half of the year.

    Like-for-like sales were, external up 3% for the six months to 30 July, while underlying profit was up almost 13% at £177m.

    After a turbulent period two years ago, Morrisons has been going through a major reorganisation, led by chief executive David Potts.

    He said that "a new Morrisons is beginning to take shape".

    A grant of £325,000 has been given to the team trying to bring Bradford's old Odeon back to life.

    The West Yorkshire Combined Authority says it's been made possible by the news that the NEC Group will run it when it becomes a live music venue.

    Protesters are gathering again this morning at the gates of North Yorkshire's fracking site.

    The demonstrators, who held a candlelit vigil last night, say they'll keep a daily 12-hour watch outside the site in Kirby Misperton in Ryedale.

    The company which owns the site, Third Energy, says fracking is safe and will start work by the end of the year.

    North Yorkshire Police say they'll talk to protesters, to explain what's safe and acceptable.

    But activist Eddie Thornton, who's from Pickering, says it's about who puts the most boots on the ground:

    M1 Northbound closed, very slow traffic due to overturned lorry between J46 A6120 Selby Road / A63 Selby Road (Leeds Colton / Garforth) and J47 A642 / A656 / B1217 (Garforth / Micklefield).

    The road has been closed following an accident at around 06:15.

    A lorry has overturned on the Northbound carriageway and has crossed the central reservation. Lane three is also closed

    Sheffield's first tram train comes into service today - but it will only run on the tram network.

    The vehicle is designed to run on both city tramlines and the main rail network.

    But the new tram train route to Rotherham hasn't been completed yet.
