A West Yorkshire MP is among those who say they received death threats and abuse during this year's general election campaign.

Nearly all of the MPs who responded to a BBC survey - 87%, in fact - said they had faced some form of abuse, including verbal abuse, vandalism and intimidation, on the campaign trail.

Just over half of the MPs said they were not bothered by the abuse they received, although 9% said they had been "extremely upset" and 39% were "fairly upset".

Dewsbury Labour MP Paula Sherriff says online abuse was a daily occurrence during the election campaign and it created a sense of fear about what would happen next.

Here she remembers one time when she logged onto Facebook and was shocked by what she saw about herself:

  4. Listen: Parking charges and stag parties blamed for "failing" York tradepublished at 08:08 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

Retail in York city centre is "failing", according to a report by a group of high-profile shop owners.

Stag and hen parties, 24-hour parking charges and online shopping are all to blame, York Retail Forum says.

The organisation's now launched a plan its members hope will turn things around.

But Hanush Wolf, the owner of Burgins perfume shop, which closed this year after 137 years of trading in York, says he thinks the damage has already been done:

Two men who boasted about being the biggest distributors of nuisance text messages in the UK have been exposed as part of a three-year BBC investigation.

Andrew Horner-Glister and Barry Sanders, who ran several businesses, including one called Clarity Leeds, told an undercover reporter from Inside Out West Midlands they sent "60 million texts a month".

The pair said when they did it up until 2012, it was legal. But the Information Commissioner's Office, which regulates the industry, says it's been illegal since 2003:

Officers say people stopped to help save two lives, by pulling a mum and baby from a car moments before it burst into flames.

It happened at about 10:00 on Saturday on the A171 at Normanby, just south of Whitby.

Police say a Vauxhaul Vectra appears to have lost control, crossing into the path of oncoming vehicles.

It struck a Golf, with a 22-year-old mum and infant inside, which came to rest on the verge before bursting into flames.

People who stopped and pulled them out are being praised for assisting in an "extremely dangerous situation".

The mum and a passenger in the Vectra are in hospital with serious injuries. The baby boy is unhurt.

Anyone who saw what happened is being asked to contact police.

    Devo

A total of 17 councils across Yorkshire have said they want to unite behind a single devolution deal.

Last week, Barnsley leader Steve Houghton and Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones expressed their commitment to a Yorkshire-wide devolution deal.

On Friday, a letter from Local Government Minister Sajid Javid increased the pressure on the four South Yorkshire councils to agree on a way forward.

Despite a range of proposals, councils have so far failed to agree a pan-Yorkshire deal.

  8. Check your train journey this morningpublished at 07:00 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

Rail services across Yorkshire appear to be running pretty much on time so far this morning, though there are a few problems.

First, if you're heading south, journeys between Derby/Nottingham and Leicester are being delayed by up to 10 minutes.

And trains are currently unable to run between Meadowhall and Rotherham Central because of over-running engineering works.

Rail replacement transports will shuttle passengers between the two stations until the work is completed.
