  1. Travel update: Two lorries collide on M62published at 15:09 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    So more bad news if you're westbound on the M62 today, two lorries have crashed between J25 and J24.

    Highways England say that the crash has only just happened and that their officers are on their way to the scene.

    They say we can expect delays as they sort out the wreckage and that two lanes are closed.

  2. South Yorkshire TV Star Bobbie Knutt has diedpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    South Yorkshire comedian and TV star Bobbie Knutt has died.

    The 71-year-old from Sheffield was one of the stars of the TV series Benidorm.

    His agent Tim Scott has confirmed that the star died this morning in France where he was on holiday.

    'Knutty' as he was affectionately known, has a long career on the stage, appearing in Coronation Street and voicing many TV adverts, one of his best known was for Tetley tea.

    He also made appearances in the Benidorm TV series.

    In recent years Bobby lost his wife, Donna Hartley-Wass, suddenly.

    She passed away in the couple's back garden in Barnsley while sunbathing.

    South Yorkshire Police are hoping someone might recognise this biker.

    In one shot he's doing a wheelie over speed camera road markings.

    A dangerous trick and police are keen to hear from anyone who can help them track him down, external.

    He's been seen in the Chapeltown area and on the Stocksbridge bypass, with around 45 sightings of him since May of this year.

    A missing vulnerable pensioner from Halifax hasn't been seen for more than a fortnight and police are growing concerned for her.

    Cathryn Holdsworth, 72, was last seen at Calderdale Royal Hospital on Friday 8 September, but she wasn't reported missing until 19 September.

    Officers say that Cathryn lives with a number of health issues which make her more vulnerable and that she may have some family in Cornwall, but also has previous links to Blackpool.

    When she was last seen she was wearing distinctive pink earmuffs, a dark coat, pink gloves and using her walking frame.

    Two men have been left badly injured after they were attacked with baseball bats and a knife in a targeted attack at a house in Huddersfield.

    The attack happened at about 17:20 yesterday in Moldgreen, when three suspects with baseball bats and a knife went into a house on on Elmfield Terrace.

    The two victims, aged 50 and 29, were in the kitchen and were assaulted by the suspects, one of the men suffered a cut on his head and a fractured hand.

    The suspects left after the assault - police say they're looking for two black men and a white man between 27 and 30-years-old.

    Leeds band Wild Beasts have announced they are to split up after 13 years.

    The band, who were once nominated for a Mercury Music prize, announced this morning, external that they didn't want the band to "diminish as we move forward in our lives".

    The band formed in Cumbria in 2004 but relocated to Leeds the year after and went on to release five albums and were listed by the NME as one of the bands "tipped for the top" in 2007.

    Leeds promoters Futuresound said they were "A truly special group that came out of the Leeds scene sounding like nothing else and went on to influence so many artists around the world."

    Two university friends who bought and sold the lethal drug fentanyl via the dark web have been jailed.

    Ross Brennan, 28, and Aarron Gledhill, 30, made hundreds of thousands of pounds mixing and selling the high-strength painkiller and other drugs.

    At least 70 people have died in the UK in the last nine months after taking fentanyl, often when mixed with heroin.

    Brennan and Gledhill, both from Huddersfield, pleaded guilty to drug and money laundering offences.

    Brennan was jailed for 13 years and eight months while Gledhill was sentenced to three years and nine months by Judge Andrew Stubbs at York Crown Court.

    Burnley manager Sean Dyche says new rules on retrospective bans for diving do not go far enough, despite Huddersfield's Rajiv van la Parra being booked for simulation in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Turf Moor.

    The Dutchman, who went down under pressure from Matt Lowton despite no apparent contact, appealed for a penalty in the 73rd minute, but referee Chris Kavanagh instead showed the Terriers substitute a yellow card.

    Under new Football Association regulations, only incidents that result in a player winning a penalty or lead to an opponent being sent off - through either a direct red card or two yellow cards - can be punished retrospectively with a suspension.

    That means Van La Parra will face no further sanction for Saturday's incident, whereas he could have been banned had Kavanagh missed it.

    Here's a couple of close-ups of police cutting free protesters locked into concrete and metal barrels at a fracking site in Kirby Misperton.

    Four anti-fracking protesters have laid in the road in front of the site in North Yorkshire.

    It is part of a series of protests taking place at the site, where Third Energy was granted permission to frack in 2016.

    The protesters have locked their arms into barrels made of concrete and metal and said they will remain there for at least 24 hours, police said.

    Following the news that there was an arrest this morning at the site in North Yorkshire where fracking is due to begin police have taken further action.

    Police say four people are also lying in the road outside the site with their arms locked into barrels made of concrete and metal.

    It is part of a series of protests taking place at the site at Kirby Misperton, where Third Energy was granted permission to frack in 2016.

    Third Energy has not received final consent to begin fracking but expects to start before the end of the year.

    You might remember a few weeks ago we bought you the mystery of the missing crocodile - believed stolen from a house in north Leeds.

    The a 6ft-long ornamental croc was taken from a private garden on the banks of the River Aire, in Horsforth, at the end of the Bank Holiday weekend.

    Well, it's good news as "Jock the Croc" has returned, after being found on Brigg Flat Wood.

    He was a well-known sight in the area - For over a decade it's been a focal point for passers-by on the Newlay Bridge.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue got called out to Fryston to try and free it after it had got halfway over the gate and got stuck - it was there for nearly 90 minutes.

    But it managed to free itself as firefighters were waiting for a vet to arrive.

    Police say four people are lying in the road at the fracking site in North Yorkshire with their arms locked into barrels made of concrete and metal.

    Liaison officers are at the scene in Kirby Misperton and have spoken to the people involved.

    The protesters say they'll be lying in the road for 24 hours, or "as long as it takes".

    Superintendent Alisdair Dey, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “Our core tactic is to engage with people on all sides of the issue, and ask them to work with us to make this a safe and peaceful protest.

    “However, once the balance has tipped from peaceful protest to deliberate acts that are unlawful and cause unreasonable disruption to others, including companies going about their lawful business, then we need to take action."
