A former senior North Yorkshire police officer says he was surprised a motorbike race in which spectators were seriously injured was restarted.
A number of people remain in hospital after the two separate collisions, during the race at Scarborough's Oliver's Mount yesterday.
Two air ambulances were called after 10 spectators and two bike racers were injured.
David Short was at yesterday's event. He's a former Chief Superintendent with North Yorkshire Police and a keen motorcyclist.
He says he was surprised the race was restarted after the first accident:
A statement from organisers did say that in view of the seriousness of the incidents they'd reluctantly decided to cancel the rest of the meeting and apologised to people attending.
