Today the Brexit Secretary David Davies has said "decisive steps forward" have been made in the latest round of UK-EU talks.
But Leeds MP and chair of the House of Commons committee for Exiting The European Union Hilary Benn has said not enough has been done to break the "log jam".
Mr Davis was speaking at the end of the first talks since Theresa May's speech in Italy last week, in which she said the UK wanted a two-year transition.
But EU negotiator Michel Barnier said there were still "big gaps" between the sides on some of the withdrawal issues.
He said it could be "weeks or months" before they agreed to move to the next stage of talks about future relations.

Campaigners trying to stop Sheffield City Council's controversial tree felling programme have broken the injunction restricting them from stepping inside the safety barrier.
Sheffield City Council was granted a court order back in August to stop people holding up work by standing inside safety zones erected around the trees.
Work to remove trees on Kenwood Road was stopped earlier this afternoon.
Here's one un-named protester explaining why she's broken the injunction:
In a Statement Councillor Brian Lodge, Cabinet member for Environment and Street Scene says: "This will result in further court action and potential imprisonment."
Quote MessageThis direct action is in complete disregard of the law and furthermore, goes against the wishes of the majority of people in Sheffield who are in support of our work"
