    A 19-year-old woman from Halifax has pleaded guilty to sharing terrorist propaganda online.

    Ammber Rafiq of Elmfield Terrace, Halifax, pleaded guilty to four offences of disseminating terrorist publications after being arrested in April.

    A month earlier police had become aware that she had sent links to terrorist publications over social media in group chats and in private conversations.

    She will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court tomorrow.

  2. Bank staff shocked by robberypublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 23 October 2017

    Bank staff were left "incredibly shaken" after a masked gang targeted a HSBC bank in Sheffield.

    Two men burst into the bank on Staniforth Road, Darnall, last week taking a "quantity of cash" during the raid.

    The staff were threatened before them thieves fled in a red Mazda car.

    The driver is a white male, with facial hair and of a stocky build aged between 28 and 35-years-old.

    The incident took at about 09.20 on Friday 20 October.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a 30-year-old woman was assaulted at Scarborough Fair last Thursday.

    They say two women and a man were involved in an argument with the victim who had to have several stitches to her eyelid.

    They're asking for anyone who might have seen what happened to get in touch.

    West Yorkshire Police are urging the public to only call 999 this Halloween in an emergency.

    It's after they received 500 extra calls last year - putting pressure on resources.

    Calls to 999 and 101 combined were up by 16%, compared to an average day of the week

    The Force has also created 'Sorry - no Trick or Treat' posters for people who don't want to be disturbed.

  7. Strike to continue at Sheffield Jobcentrepublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 23 October 2017

    Jobcentre staff in Sheffield are striking for a further 4-weeks from today.

    It's an attempt to stop the closure of its Eastern Avenue Jobcentre, which is due to be shut down on the 17 November by the Department for Work and Pensions.

    The closure is part of a government plan to axe almost one in 10 Jobcentres across the UK.

    The Public and Commercial Services union have been campaigning since January 2017 to keep the centre open.

    It will mean that 46 days of strike action will have been taken by the announced closure date.

    A 23-year-old woman has appeared before Bradford Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of an 18-month-old baby boy.

    Gemma Procter from Newcastle House, in Bradford is charged with the murder of Elliot Procter on Saturday.

    Ms Procter spoke only to confirm her name age an address to District Judge Micheal Fanning.

    Police were called to Newcastle House in the Barkerend area of Bradford, after the baby was reported to have fallen from a sixth floor flat.

    Ms Procter was remanded in custody to appear before Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday

    A doctor from South Yorkshire says a website helping men find second wives could allow men to help women.

    Tarek, a doctor from South Yorkshire, who does not wish to give his second name, signed up to the second wife website set up by Sunderland businessman Azad Chaiwala.

    He said: "I found there were a lot of ladies who are growing old, or divorced, or single mothers, and nobody's really interested in them.

    "I thought 'well if I have the ability to manage more than one wife then I would like to have this opportunity'.

    "I'm not just doing it to have, I'm doing it to give."

    In the UK, polygamous marriages - where a person has more than one spouse - are only recognised if they took place in countries where they are legal.

    However, no UK laws stop unregistered religious ceremonies taking place.

    Warrington knocked down Denmark's Ceylan, 28, with a right hand in the 10th round at the First Direct Arena.

    Ceylan beat the first count but was knocked down again before the referee stopped the fight.

    A Leeds actor will be joining the new Doctor Who series when it returns to our screens.

    Huddersfield's Jodie Whittaker has already been announced as the the 13th Doctor back in July - the first woman to play the role.

    Along side her will be another West Yorkshire actor, 29-year-old Mandip Gill who has stared in Holloaks and Casualty.

    She said she was "over the moon" to join the show, adding: "Certain roles seem unattainable and this is one of those, so much so I didn't believe it to be true for the first few weeks."

    Two protesters who spent the night on a fracking platform in North Yorkshire have been charged by police.

    The 28-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were removed by a specialist team yesterday morning, after getting into the Kirby Misperton site, where drilling for shale gas is due to begin before the end of the year.

    They've been charged with criminal damage and hindering lawful work

    A third protester, a 29-year-old man who climbed down on Saturday afternoon, has been charged with criminal damage and aggravated trespass.

    Third Energy was given planning permission to operate on the site in May 2016.

    It has not received final consent to begin fracking but expects to start before the end of the year.

    Opponents say it can cause water contamination, earthquakes and noise and traffic pollution.

    This is Paige Huddlestone who is missing and police are "concerned about her welfare".

    The 20-year-old was last seen in Sheffield city centre last night (Sunday 22 October) at about 22:15.

    Paige is 5ft 5 ins tall with short red hair and a slim build and is wearing a light grey tracksuit with white trainers.

    Police are appealing for help to find her.

    It's shut from today until Friday from the junction of Hurst Road and the A57 Sheffield Road to the junction of the A6013 with the A57 at Bamford.

    A 49-year-old man has gone missing from the Crosspool area of Sheffield.

    Sean Allen was reported missing at about 20:40 yesterday evening, he was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, blue and white trainers and a light grey zip up jacket and cap.

    He is described as about 6ft 4ins tall, of a medium build with a shaved head.

    Officers are appealing for anyone to come forward who may have seen him.

    A woman has been charged with the murder of an 18-month-old boy who has now been named as Elliot Proctor.

    Police have confirmed a 23-year-old woman will appear before magistrates this morning.

    The child died on Saturday evening after falling from a sixth-floor flat window.

    Police say it "quickly became apparent" the boy had died when police were called to Newcastle House in Barkerend Road, Bradford, at 17:10 on Saturday.

    West Yorkshire Police said it was an "extremely traumatic incident".

    The six-week waiting time for universal credit must be cut as the idea that people have a nest egg to fall back on is "grotesquely ignorant", the Archbishop of York has said.

    Dr John Sentamu said ministers must take a "courageous" look at the benefit.

    Addressing the delay must be a priority, he said.

    The government said it was determined to ensure people would not face hardship.

    Changes recently announced to the system of advanced payments meant people could access these as soon as they got into the system, a spokesman said.
