    We mentioned a little while ago the search for missing 80-year-old Barbara Clarkson, who'd gone missing in Leeds earlier today.

    Happily, police have now confirmed she's been found "safe and well".

    Officers wish to thank everyone who assisted in finding her, police say.

  3. Northallerton police station closure 'to save £2m'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    A North Yorkshire Police station is to be sold and its services moved elsewhere permanently, it's been confirmed.

    Northallerton Police Station was closed on a trial basis last year, with most people being taken to Harrogate or the force's new HQ.

    North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Julia Mulligan says the move will save more than £2m in the next five years.

    A group of women runners in Sheffield have organised their own race after falling victim to an apparent online scam.

    Members of the Sheffield Strideout group paid £1,000 for 50 places in the She Runs The Night event at the city's Endcliffe Park on Friday.

    However, Sheffield City Council said it had received no booking from the event's organiser.

    Strideout club runner Charlotte Holmes said: "To find out not only that we'd we lost our money but then that opportunity to do that race had gone, I was bitterly disappointed."

    The club has organised its own 5k race in the park on Friday evening.

  5. Eighty-year-old woman with dementia missing in Leedspublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    An 80-year-old woman who suffers from dementia and who is unable to talk to people has gone missing in Leeds.

    Barbara Clarkson was last seen shortly before 12:15 today in Queen Street in Morley, at the junction with Fountain Street.

    She was wearing a brown coat, dark trousers, grey hat and black trainers with a white stripe.

    Police say she has advanced stage dementia and is unable to hold a conversation and that it is likely she is wandering around on foot.

    Anyone with information about her whereabouts is being asked to contact police.

  6. Car thieves target vehicles in Rotherhampublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    There's been a spike in the number of sat navs, laptops, mobile phones and other personal items being stolen from vehicles in the Wath area of Rotherham.

    Some appeared to have been left unsecured with valuable items on display.

    The theives have targeted vehicles on Boswell Road, Park Road, Chapel Street, Cemetary Road, and other locations.

    Crime Reduction Officer, Dene Tinker, said: "Always lock your vehicle in a residential area or in the street. Never leave personal documents or sat navs in the vehicle."

  7. Watch: Campaign to stop attacks on firefighterspublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    Firefighters faced an increase in violence against them last year according to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

    They say that there have been a handful of attacks this year already including one in which a firefighter was hit in the stomach with a firework. An 18-year-old has been arrested.

    They've released figures ahead of bonfire night: There were 95 attacks on crews last year, an increase of 50%.

    Today a campaign aimed at stopping the attacks has been launched

    It says all of their fire engines carry cameras and people attacking them will be prosecuted.

  9. 4x4 reverses into Leeds Jewellerspublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    A 4x4 has been reversed into a jewellers in Leeds this lunchtime, details are still sketchy, but this is what we know so far:

    West Yorkshire Police say they were called just before 11:30 to the scene at Call Lane.

    They say "officers are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing" and there has been speculation from shop keepers nearby that two men may have run off from the scene.

    The damaged shop is Hyman Jewellers which has been trading since 1975.

    The North Yorkshire MP whose constituency covers a site in Ryedale where fracking is expected to start shortly says the cost of policing anti-fracking protests there should be paid for by national funds.

    His comments come after it was revealed the force spent almost £200,000 on staffing protests at the Kirby Misperton site in August and September. That figure doesn't include officers' salaries.

    North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Julia Mulligan says she will ask for government money if the force don't have enough cash to fund policing protests at the fracking site in Ryedale.

    A man was arrested at last night's Carabao Cup match between Leicester City and Leeds United following reports of a racial slur.

    Leicestershire Police said officers arrested an 18-year-old male at the match on suspicion of racially aggravated public order.

    The force could not confirm if he was a Leicester or Leeds fan, but added that he remains in police custody.

    Labour has confirmed that Sheffield Hallam MP Jared O'Mara has been supended.

    The party will launch an investigation into his behaviour after he posted misogynistic and homophobic comments online more than a decade ago.

    The Sheffield Hallam MP, who was elected this year, apologised for remarks made online in 2002 and 2004, but denies the more recent allegations.

    On Monday Mr O'Mara resigned from the women and equalities committee after political website Guido Fawkes unearthed offensive comments made by the 35-year-old MP.

    Then on Tuesday, Sophie Evans told the BBC's Daily Politics she had met Mr O'Mara on a dating app and there had been "no hard feelings" when things didn't work out between them.

    But in an incident in March 2017 Mr O'Mara, who was DJing in a nightclub, made comments to her that "aren't broadcastable", she said.

    Mr O'Mara said this was "categorically untrue".

  19. Bradford toddler window fall murder case adjournedpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    The case of a 23-year-old woman who is due to go on trial for the murder of an 18-month-old boy has been adjourned.

    Gemma Procter, of Barkerend Road in Bradford, was charged after Elliot Procter's fatal fall from a sixth floor window on 21 October.

    Her case has been adjourned while medical assessments are made to find out if she's fit to enter a plea.

    She appeared via video link at Bradford Crown Court.

  20. Fracking protester climbs on top of lorrypublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    A protester has climbed on top of a lorry destined for the Kirby Misperton fracking site in North Yorkshire.

    The man has told police "he plans to stay there until he is removed" and officers have put diversions around the lorry.

    Drivers are being advised to avoid the A169 where the road is blocked and a contraflow has been put in place.

    Third Energy was given planning permission to operate on the site in May 2016. It has not received final consent to begin fracking but expects to start before the end of the year.
