    The court case of a woman who is charged with murder after an 18-month-old baby fell from a sixth floor window in Bradford has been adjourned so medical tests can carried out to asses her fitness to plead.

    We told you earlier about a remarkable gesture from a young Huddersfield Town fan, Adam Bhana.

    He found a fiver at the John Smith Stadium on Saturday, and sent it to Australian midfielder, Aaron Mooy, as a reward for his man-of-the-match performance against Manchester United.

    A 29-year-old-man is currently in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Doncaster

    He was walking with another man along the grass verge of the A614 in the Hatfield area when he is said to have stepped into the road and was hit by a black Peugeot 207.

    The driver of the Peugeot, a 21-year-old man, and the other pedestrian, were not injured in the collision.

    It happened on the A614 heading away from Thorne, towards the junction with the A18 at around 00:05 yesterday morning.

    Police want to hear from any witnesses.

    The government will be asked to provide additional funding for policing at Ryedale's fracking site if North Yorkshire Police runs out of money.

    It's cost the force almost £200,000 to police the protests there, up to the end of September.

    Police and Crime Commissioner, Julia Mulligan, says they expect the next six weeks to be the busiest.

    More than 300 lorry loads of material are expected to be brought onto the Kirby Misperton site.

    A village just outside of Doncaster has finally been brought up to speed... Broadband speed that is.

    After suffering for years at the mercy of a 2mb internet connection, a trio of residents from Pembridge Park in Auckley, decided to take matters into their own hands.

    Simon Fisher, Craig Smith and Nick Field worked with wireless internet service provider, Quickline Communications, to provide the area with an ultra-fast connection speed of up to 100Mbps.

    A York author says life's "almost returning to normal" after her first book was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, one of the world's most prestigious literary awards.

    Fiona Moseley, 29, who works part-time at The Little Apple Bookshop in York, started writing Elmet while commuting between London and York.

    She's returned to her job at the bookshop and says now the award ceremony is over she can enjoy having been nominated:

    Images of a masked man threatening staff with a golf club in a Sheffield convenience store have been released by police to help them track down the culprit.

    He fled the store with a quantity of cash and cigarettes, heading across the fields towards the back of Woodhouse railway station.

    The masked man entered the Iron Bridge convenience store on Retford Road, Hansworth, on Friday 13 October at about 09:45.

    Police are also exploring the possibility that this robbery could be linked to another robbery at the same store on Friday 20 October.

    Nobody was injured during the incident.

    A prominent Labour MP says Jared O'Mara should be suspended from the party while claims he made misogynistic and homophobic remarks are investigated.

    Former shadow education secretary Lucy Powell made the comments on ITV after Mr O'Hara was accused of making offensive comments in March 2017.

    Labour has launched an investigation into his behaviour.

    The Sheffield Hallam MP apologised for remarks made online in 2002 and 2004, but denies the more recent allegations.

  10. Former York City player says stranger stopped him from killing himselfpublished at 08:15 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    Former York City footballer, Clarke Carlisle, has revealed a stranger persuaded him to speak to his family rather than take his own life.

    The 38-year-old disappeared from home last month, which led to a missing persons appeal, before he was found safe and well in Liverpool.

    The ex-chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association said he'd been "strolling around" Liverpool and was "headstrong set on the most convenient way to kill himself" when a passing stranger intervened.

    In December 2014 he tried to take his own life, when he jumped into the path of a lorry on the A64 near York.

    An animal park in North Yorkshire is looking for new homes for some of its penguins.

    Scarborough Sea Life centre has seen three new chicks born to its Humboldt penguins colony.

    The park is now looking to relocate some of the birds to other wildlife centres.

    A new website's been launched which brings independent stores in Thirsk and their products together in one place.

    After people place an order, each store then picks and bags it ready for the customer to go to the shop and collect it.

    That's what a young Huddersfield Town fan did on Saturday when he made the lucky discovery at the John Smith's Stadium.

    Town fan Adam sent the £5 note as a reward for Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy after his man-of-the-match performance against Manchester United last week.

    In an accompanying letter, Adam wrote that "Mooy can keep the money because he played very well and scored".

    An 83-year-old from Rotherham says she's shocked after being fined £80 for feeding the birds.

    Jean Corker was accused of littering, after putting fat balls and mealworms on the ground for the pigeons in the town centre last week.

    She was handed a penalty notice by an official, who said there were signs warning against the activity in the area.

    But Jean thinks the action is a bit heavy handed:

    Rotherham Council have since reviewed the fine and cancelled it, saying it didn't believe this was a suitable case for the issue of a fixed penalty notice.

    Businesses in a West Yorkshire town say they're at breaking-point because of roadworks cutting them off from passing trade.

    The road-widening work at Salterhebble Hill, between Huddersfield and Halifax is expected to take a year.

    But just two months into the project local businesses are rallying together and calling for financial support from Calderdale Council.

    The Council says its long term aim is to help boost local businesses and that it continues to do all it can to minimise disruption.

  18. Fracking site protests £180,000 policing billpublished at 06:40 British Summer Time 25 October 2017

    Policing protests at a shale gas fracking site in North Yorkshire has cost the force almost £200,000 so far.

    The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Julia Mulligan, said the force had spent £80,000 up to August 31st and just over £100,000 in September.

    So far 26 people have been arrested at the site at Kirby Misperton during September.

    The PCC said the figures included overtime, equipment and subsistence and travel-related costs.

    She said the force has the necessary contingencies and budgets in place to ensure it can deal with situations like the protests, but said it would have an impact on policing the county.

    Ms Mulligan says if costs rise significantly she will seek assurances government funds would be forthcoming.
