    A phone call claiming to be from a bank's fraud team resulted in Sarah Harper from Wadsley being tricked out of £10,000.

    The money was part of an inheritance and the caller managed to persuade her that someone had been able to compromise her account and that she was at risk of losing it:

    A musical depicting the rise of one of Britain's best-loved entertainers - Cilla Black - starts at the Alhambra in Bradford tonight.

    Cilla The Musical is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed TV series which first aired in 2014.

    It charts her first steps into the music industry by a young John Lennon when he introduced her to music mogul Brian Epstein.

    The musical contains some of her most famous songs, including Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me.

    A company providing home support to the most vulnerable adults and children in South Yorkshire is being criticised over its standards of care.

    CASA Doncaster, external looks after 44 people across the area.

    A report by the Care Quality Commission says the firm requires improvement in areas of safety, leadership and complying with regulations. , external

    The CQC report says the the company lacked 'robust monitoring' which meant it couldn't be certain that care was being properly provided.

    The Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate has just secured money to help support police officers with stress, anxiety and similar conditions.

    The £1.5m is a grant from the fines levied on the banking industry for manipulating the Libor rate.

    The Centre says it is seeing a growing demand for psychological treatment for police officers. CEO Patrick Cairns says they're delighted with the grant and that they are the only Police Charity to receive money from the Treasury under the Libor scheme.

    Police say they've discovered a large amount of drugs at a house in Sheffield.

    Officers say £60,000 worth of cannabis was in a house on Wadborough Road, near the Botanical Gardens in the city.

    They say it's part of their efforts to tackle organised crime; there were no arrests and investigations continue.

    The 40th UK Snooker Championships gets underway in York later.

    128 of the world's best snooker players will be at the city's Barbican Centre. Organisers say ticket sales this year are the 'best ever'. Days of preparation have been going on to get everything ready.

    Ivan Hirschowitz from World Snooker says the biggest challenge is getting the tables set perfectly.

    A 20-year-old man from Sheffield has died after his motorbike left the road and hit some railings.

    The accident was earlier this month on Kenninghall Road, Heeley. No other vehicles were involved.

    In making their appeal for witnesses, police say the crash was on 14 November at about 13:30 and that the man was riding a red Honda CBF motorbike.

  11. Chennai Six: Britons released from Indian jailpublished at 08:14 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2017

    Six British former soldiers - including Paul Towers from Pocklington - have been released from an Indian prison four years after being arrested and detained on weapons charges.

    The so-called Chennai Six, who had been guards on a ship to combat piracy in the Indian Ocean, won an appeal against their convictions on Monday.

    They have now been escorted out of Chennai Central Prison by British Consulate officials.

    It said it was discussing the next step with the Indian authorities.

    Lawyers representing the men say they will have to spend some more time in India before they can expect to return home.

    Children at private Catholic schools could be "at risk" of sexual abuse despite years of efforts to root out predators, an inquiry has heard.

    An independent inquiry is being carried out into abuse at institutions, including the Catholic Church.

    Ampleforth College in North Yorkshire and Downside in Somerset are currently under scrutiny.

    Representatives from both schools told the inquiry they apologised for past failings.

    A Huddersfield school is closed today following the sudden death of a pupil.

    Birkby Junior School says it's a mark of respect to the family of seven-year-old Aiman Abdullah who became ill during a visit to the North Huddersfield Trust School.

    The school in Fartown says it's shocked and saddened by the news, and other children will get all the support they need.

    West Yorkshire Police say it will be some time before they truly understand what happened on Saturday night when five people were killed in a car crash.

    It happened in the Meanwood area of Leeds when a Renault Clio hit a tree on Stonegate Road. Just one 15 year old survived the crash.
