    Do you know this man?

    Police want to speak to him after parked cars were damaged in Doncaster.

    The incidents happened at about 04:50 on on 2 December when was seen carrying a breeze block into a car park near the railway station.

    The man smashed the windscreen of a red Toyota Yaris and then grabbed the wing mirror of a blue Vauxhall Zafira and hit and kicked it.

    The leader of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council Chris Read has been elected as the new chair of Sheffield City Region Combined Authority.

    Mr Read takes over from Sir Steve Houghton, the leader of Barnsley Council, who announced in July that he was stepping down temporarily because of a conflict of interest over the best devolution deal for South Yorkshire.

    Sir Steve wanted to pursue a Yorkshire-wide deal instead of the Sheffield City Region agreement.

    He's now been replaced permanently following the election of Chris Read.

    Remember we told you about a frozen Viking ice sculpture in York earlier.

    He was part the York ice trail which featured 45 sculptures, formed from crystal-clear ice, dotted about the city.

    Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has been given a one match touchline ban after his dismissal during the draw with Hull City.

    The Owls' Head Coach was sent to the stands after arguing with officials over a penalty decision.

    He will miss Friday's game against League leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

    He has also been fined £3,000.

  5. 60 bags of Spice found in drugs raidpublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2017

    Sixty bags of the drug Spice were found in a raid by police in South Yorkshire.

    Police were carrying out specialist operations in Doncaster town centre after a rise in reported drug use.

    A team, including a drug detection dog have carried out spot checks and targeted patrols in the Market Place, Bowers Fold and around the Interchange and issued a number of cautions.

    Officers who were executing a drugs warrant in Bowers Fold found 60 bags of what is believed to be the drug Spice along with other drug equipment.

    A 23-year-old man and two women, aged 21 and 18 were arrested in connection with the inquiry. They have since been released under investigation.

    It's understood that Barnsley FC manager, Paul Heckingbottom, is close to signing a new deal with the club.

    Forty-year-old Heckingbottom has guided the Reds to promotion and championship safety since becoming caretaker manager in February 2016. The appointment was made permanent in June that year.

    Talks between the manager and the club opened some weeks ago and it’s believed an announcement is expected before the end of the week.

    Police have released CCTV images of people they want to find after a nursery was burgled in a village near Halifax.

    Ovenden Children’s Nursery was broken into in the early hours of Tuesday, 28 November.

    The suspects took a number of ipad minis and other electrical goods from the nursery.

    West Yorkshire Police say they want to speak to anyone who knows who the men in the images are or have been offered an ipad mini to buy.

  9. Man, 35, hit by goods vehicle in early hourspublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2017

    A 35-year-old man is seriously ill in hospital after he was hit by a goods vehicle on the A635 Dearne Valley Parkway in the early hours of this morning.

    The white DAF articulated vehicle was heading towards Doncaster at about 01:10 and was close to the Hollygrove Roundabout when it hit the man.

    The driver of the goods vehicle was unhurt.

    A man wanted by police in Hungary for human trafficking and theft has been arrested in West Yorkshire.

    Attila Foeldesi, 45, is the subject of a European Arrest Warrant after being found guilty of the offences.

    He was sentenced to over five years in prison for the crimes.

    Police said they believed that Foeldesi had been living in the Beeston area of Leeds but that he could have had contacts across West Yorkshire.

  12. In pictures: Sheffield fire crews tackle titanium blazepublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2017

    South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has just released pictures from a titanium fire at the weekend in Sheffield:

    It happened in the early hours of Saturday morning on Sussex Street where an "unknown quantity" of loose titanium was well alight when fire crews arrived.

    The fire had spread to a lorry and two forklift trucks and the flames were so fierce they had caused heat damage to nearby buildings.

    Fire officers say the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and possibly as a result of the titanium overheating after being dried and then stored.

    Veolia, who manage waste services for Sheffield City Council, are warning that difficult conditions on roads and footpaths caused by the wintry weather mean only limited bin collections are being carried out today.

    Some of York's best known musicians and singers are performing a host of Christmas carols at the weekend, to raise money for Children in Need.

    They're taking to the alter in the city's Holy Trinity Church on Micklegate on Saturday.

    Doors open at 19:00 and the show starts at 19:30 prompt.

    The festive musicathon is free, but donations are welcomed and encouraged for Children In Need.

    If you're looking for a purr-fect cuppa and visit this place you could end up, ahem, ... feline fine?

    A former bank on Kirkgate in Leeds city centre has been transformed into a cat café which opens today.

    It's home to around 35 rescue cats, for customers to pet while eating.

    Sheffield United says the final proof for the calendar was correct when it was signed-off by the club and the error crept in afterwards.

    Grange Communications, who handle the printing and distribution for the club, have issued an "unreserved apology".

    A teenage boy has been seriously injured in a collision in Ripon this morning.

    The 14-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car on Clotherholme Road, near the junction of Aislabie Garth, as he walked to school at about 08:45.

    The boy's condition is currently described as "critical".

    His family has been informed and is currently with him in hospital.

    Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact police.
