At about 15:30, a Volkswagen Tiguan travelling north along Church Avenue in Horsforth hit the woman pedestrian who was pushing a pram on the offside footpath.

She was given emergency treatment at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The 10-month old baby girl in the pram was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with minor injuries.

A dog the woman was walking was also injured and was taken to a vet for treatment.

Tomorrow is the last Friday before many people begin their Christmas break from work.

As revellers enjoy one last social gathering before settling down ahead of Christmas day, the evening often leads to a strain on the region's emergency services.

The day has often been referred to as "mad Friday".

But one team of volunteers, called The Street Pastors, are trying to reduce that strain by roaming the streets and helping those who may have had one too many.

I spent last Saturday night with them in Sheffield City Centre to see their work:

The grants, ranging from £500 to £5,000, have been made to 75 charities in Scarborough, Whitby and Teesside.

They're from the Sirius Minerals Foundation charity, which aims to share revenue from the company's operations with the local community.

A 23-mile (37km) tunnel will be built, so minerals can be transported to a processing plant on Teesside.

The company claims it will create more than 1,000 jobs, but opponents said it will damage the landscape and wildlife.

The Conservative MP for York Outer, Julian Sturdy, claims it would ease congestion in York city centre and open up economic development and housing opportunities.

The call comes after the government announced a new rail strategy which included reopening some lines.

The last train on the York to Beverley line ran on the evening of November 27, 1965.

It was one of many across the country that, in the 1960s, fell victim to the Beeching cuts.

Nearly £250,000 has been spent asking people if they prefer a South Yorkshire or Yorkshire-wide proposal.

Communities Secretary, Sajid Javid, has said if the two areas commit to a Sheffield city region deal, they could join a Yorkshire-wide deal at a later date.

The "One Yorkshire" proposal was first put forward in August, when 17 of the 20 councils in the county said they wanted to pursue a county-wide deal.

While not legally binding, the councils say they will respect the result of the vote.

A family from North Yorkshire is urging parents to be aware of a popular live streaming app.

The warning comes after their 10-year-old son received explicit messages from adults on Live.me

The site, which allows users to live stream themselves to others, insists it's for those over 18 and teenagers with parental consent.

Under 13s are prohibited from using it.

Here are the words of the victim's aunt, re-voiced to protect the boy's identity:

In a statement the company says it recommends parental monitoring, internet safety discussions at home, and the use of iOS and Android parental controls, which can restrict apps before they are downloaded.
