    Private minicab drivers in Leeds are to hold a second go-slow protest tonight, on what's expected to be one of the busiest nights of the year.

    The Leeds Private Hire Drivers' organisation say it's unhappy about a number of issues including attacks on drivers and being unable to use bus lanes.

    Leeds City Council says it's held constructive talks and is disappointed the protest is going ahead.

    The Yorkshire Ambulance Service is urging people to drink responsibly on one of the busiest nights of the year for pubs and clubs.

    The emergency services say they're put under immense pressure on what's become known as "Mad Friday," saying alcohol-related callouts mean people in real life-or-death situations can face unnecessary waits.

    The funeral of one of five people killed in a car crash in Leeds last month will be held today.

    Anthony Armour was 24-years-old.

    His partner was pregnant with his third child at the time of the crash on Stonegate Road.

    A 15-year-old boy admitted five counts of causing death by dangerous driving earlier this month.

  5. Yorkshire roadworks suspended for Christmaspublished at 06:51 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2017

    Highways England has suspended roadworks on main routes across Yorkshire for Christmas.

    It means work on roads including the M621 near Leeds and the M1 near Barnsley, has been lifted.

    The RAC says today's likely to be the most congested day on the roads, with more than a million people making trips to see family and friends.

    A woman who was stabbed in an Aldi supermarket, in Skipton, North Yorkshire, has died.

    The 30-year-old was attacked at the store in Keighley Road at 15:27 BST on Thursday.

    Shoppers were left terrified, with one witness saying everyone "screamed and ran up and down". The witness also said she had "never been so scared" in her life.

    A 44-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, North Yorkshire Police said.

    A force spokesman said: "The suspect was initially detained by brave members of staff and public, before he was arrested by officers who were quickly on scene.
