"The safety cameras we use have been proven to reduce casualties by 20% when deployed to a site."

The warning comes as the council considers whether to allow one of the area's off licences to sell drink 24 hours a day.

West Yorkshire Police say they've written a letter of objection to the plan saying Harehills Road and the off licences along it are already blighted by fighting, abusive behaviour and shouting.

Property is routinely damaged by drunken groups who gather outside places selling drink, according to police.

The force also says it knows of some residents who refuse to venture out after dark and claim mothers have had to steer pushchairs into the road due to groups of drinkers blocking pavements.

  11. Sheffield cutlers meet minister over 'nonsense' knife lawspublished at 09:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2019

Sheffield knife manufacturers are to tell Home Office Minister Victoria Atkins that new proposals will damage their businesses.

    CutleryImage source, Getty Images

They're worried parts of the Offensive Weapons Bill will discriminate against them and want to see a trusted trader scheme introduced instead.

A ban on firms sending bladed weapons through the post is being considered by the government as part of its new Bill.

The restriction is designed to prevent potentially lethal implements falling into the wrong hands.

But cutlers in Sheffield say the changes could impact on their businesses.

Sheffield Central Labour MP, Paul Blomfield, who's helping with their campaign, says: "It's complete nonsense that the exemptions for sporting and ceremonial products mean you can send a sword through the post, under the government proposals, but not tableware."

According to the club, the move was by "mutual consent" after Wagner said he needed a break from "the rigours of football management".

Wagner, 47, took over as Terriers boss in November 2015 and led them to promotion to the Premier League in 2017 via the Championship play-offs.

However, they've struggled this season and are eight points from safety after taking 11 points from 22 games.

Former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Matt Glennon says Wagner has made "the ultimate sacrifice" for the good of the club.

He says: "Other clubs have brought in managers and had that bounce of a few wins and a few draws and got themselves out of relegation.

"Maybe for the sake of the club David's thought he can't go any further and maybe it's time for someone else."

Several performers said they were still owed money by Grotto Hire UK, owned by Agility Events.

Grotto Hire UK blamed a decline in sales and footfall for the company's "cash-flow problems".

Director Tony Jennings said the company was "extremely grateful" to employees and the issue would be resolved as soon as possible.

Student Nathan Major, who worked in Hull's Princes Quay over Christmas, said staff were owed thousands.

Workers were due to be paid on 10 January but found out in an email that payment would be delayed "due to non-payment by the shopping centres", he said.

Anna, another Hull worker who is usually a stay-at-home mum, said she was owed more than £1,000 for work in November and December.

She said working at Christmas had had a big impact on her two small children, who missed her "terribly".

Mr Jennings, who owns Agility Events in Hull, said: "It's with deep regret that we have faced cash-flow issues that have impacted on them."

    Lorrys

Mr Hopper says that could leave thousands of firms without the right documents.
