    The 14-year-old has gone missing from her home in the Beeston area of Leeds, police say.

    Ella was last seen at about 16:00 yesterday at her home address.

    She was wearing a cream and khaki tracksuit, a blue puffer coat with orange lining and black Adidas trainers.

    Police say they are "concerned for her welfare" and are asking for anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact them.

    Yorkshire MPs have been reacting to the government's huge defeat on Theresa May's Brexit withdrawal deal.

    The Prime Minister is promising to fight on to deliver Brexit, despite suffering the biggest defeat in modern parliamentary history last night.

    Legislation that makes it more difficult for new bars and pubs to open in Whitby has been backed by Scarborough Borough Council's cabinet against police advice.

    North Yorkshire Police said there were not enough incidents of crime and disorder to justify renewing a cumulative impact zone for a further three years.

    However councilors recommended the measure, which makes it more difficult for new drinking establishments to open, be renewed based on anecdotal evidence from the public.

    She is described as being 5ft 5ins tall and of medium build.

    Police are keen for anyone with information to get in touch.

    A special James Bond 10 pence piece, which was part of a collection of rare coins, has been stolen during a burglarly in Ripon.

    The silver coin, with 007 and the letter B etched across it, was taken from a property on Harrogate Road on Monday.

    North Yorkshire Police says "unknown offenders" entered through a patio door before carrying out an "untidy search" and taking a number of coins.

  14. Concerns grow for missing Sheffield teenagerpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2019

    Police have made an urgent appeal to find the teenager who has been missing for almost a month.

    The 16-year-old left Sheffield College on 18 December at about 14:00.

    Police have not had any confirmed sightings since.

    Supt Paul McCurry said: “Pamela is a vulnerable young girl and it is vital that we find her as soon as possible to ensure she is okay.

    “Due to the length of time she has now been missing, and the lack of contact with her family our concerns for her are understandably growing."

    If you have any information about her whereabouts, police are urging you to get in touch.

    Marks and Spencer have told me it's still open to having a future in Hull city centre after it was announced that its store on Whitefriargate could close.

    Deputy Leader of Hull City Council Darren Hale said he hopes there will continue to be an M&S in the city.

    The company has said that it's prepared to have further discussions with the council about a possible relocation.

  17. Teen arrest after stolen car crashes into buspublished at 16:29 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2019

    A 16-year-old boy's been arrested on suspicion of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving, after crashing a stolen car into a bus in North Yorkshire.

    Police say they were called to the scene of a collision involving a bus and an Audi car on Knaresborough Road at Starbeck, at about 00:15 this morning.

    The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury.

    The Audi had been reported stolen from the Ripon area on 10 January 2019.

    Officers say the suspect remains in custody, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

    "Aggressive" beggars in Wakefield could still face police action, despite proposals to fine them being ditched.

    Wakefield Council said that introducing public space protection orders (PSPOs) to deal with the issue had resulted in a "mixed response", while the police believed it would be ineffective.

    The orders, which are already used for street drinking in the district, would have been applied to beggars in Pontefract, Castleford and Wakefield.

    A report on the consultation, which drew opinions from businesses and members of the public, said opinion was divided on the matter.

    Speaking at a Cabinet meeting, councillor Maureen Cummings said: "It doesn't take an Einstein to work out that somebody who is begging, or who is homeless, can't actually afford to pay £75."

    "What we need to be doing is yes, tackling aggressive begging, but we also need to help those people who are passively begging and who need our help and support."

    She said criminal behaviour orders could still be issued by magistrates to those causing a nuisance to try and prevent them from reoffending.
