Developers say the five-storey building on Henry Street at Shalesmoor would be "a modern interpretation of industrial architecture".

A planning application says the neighbourhood was "once characterised by a mixture of industry and small-scale densely packed residential areas for the workers who supported this industry to live".

The 62-apartment development is near Sudbury Street, said to be once be home to the Little Mesters workshops before a tragic fire in 1921.

In its application, Coda Architects said: "Since the 20th Century, the area has seen a shift in scales, particularly from small individual housing units to larger scale flats.”

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is using a system which divides the world into 57 trillion individual areas, assigning a three-word reference to each one.

Using the app, the team receives a three-word address from Humberside Police, referring to the last known location of a missing person, before scrambling specially trained dogs.

The dogs of K9 Fire Investigation can then hopefully track the missing person's scent.

The system, developed by start-up what3words, was devised to help the millions of people in remote and impoverished areas of the world without a postcode to get an address for the first time.
