The crane will be used as part of work on the listed building, parts of which date back to 1445.
Work to stabilise the building after it was found to be subsiding and cracking, and to create office spaces, a cafe, restaurant and public spaces, is expected to cost about £20m.
A man has been jailed after he hit a bus with a hammer in Sheffield last year.
Arshad Mohammed, 50, of Sandford Grove Road, Sheffield, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to affray.
Following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court this week, he was also found guilty of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
He was jailed on Thursday for 50 months.
Mohammed was subject to a police wanted appeal after videos of him hitting vehicles with a sledgehammer were shared on social media last July.
The route of the last stage of the 2020 Tour de Yorkshire has been revealed.
The 177.5km route starts in Halifax and then heads north to Haworth and Skipton before hitting Pateley Bridge.
From there, the riders will take in Lofthouse, Fearby and Masham, before heading back to Pateley Bridge and on to Blubberhouses.
A sprint section at Ilkley, a climb at Otley and then the riders will head into Leeds where they finish.
The fourth and final stage will take place on 3 May.

The third stage of the Tour de Yorkshire will take in South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire for the first time in the 2020 event, with the route being revealed this morning.
Barnsley, which has hosted a start before, will see the riders off but the race won't start until just out of the town centre.
Hood Green, Thurgoland and Penistone are on the route for the 2 May event.
The race then runs along the A628 and A6106 out of South Yorkshire and into Holmfirth.
A climb in Netherthong comes before Marsden and Slaithwaite, along with Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Todmorden and then Hebden Bridge.
Halifax and Brighouse will undoubtedly draw large crowds to the side of the route before finishing in Huddersfield, 134km later.

Supporters in Broughton will see the race as it heads north towards Settle and Horton in Ribblesdale.
Then the cyclists will get a great view of the Ribblehead Viaduct as the riders turn towards Hawes and on to Buttertubs.
Muker, Strands and Grinton are included, as is Barden Moor and Harmby before finishing in Leyburn.

West Yorkshire Police said the 53-year-old man died after he and a 39-year-old man were attacked outside a property in Manchester Road, Linthwaite, last night.
The younger of the two men is being treated in hospital for a serious injury.
The force said four men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and of attempted murder in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.
Assistant Ch Con Mark Ridley said: “This has clearly been an extremely serious incident and the investigation is in its early stages to determine exactly what has taken place.
“Increased patrols are being conducted in the area by local neighbourhood policing team officers and I want to reassure residents that a full range of resources has been deployed to investigate what has taken place.”
Police in Leeds have released CCTV images of a male they want to speak to about a "voyeurism" incident in a public toilet.
A man told West Yorkshire Police he had been using toilets in Leeds' Trinity shopping centre, on 21 November, when he noticed a phone camera being held over the cubicle.
He didn't see the person involved but officers say the male shown in the images is a potential suspect.
Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact police.

Doncaster Rovers Belles have named Scunthorpe United centre-back - and former Doncaster men's player - Andy Butler as their new manager.
The 36-year-old made 222 appearances in a five-year spell as a Doncaster Rovers player, helping them win promotion to League One in 2016-17.
He left Rovers last summer to rejoin League Two Scunthorpe, where he will continue his playing career.
The Belles are third from bottom in the fourth tier of women's football.

An elderly man has been treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and burns to his head following a fire at a house in Halifax this morning.
The blaze, which happened just after 05:00 in a detached house on Central Park, completely destroyed the living room of the house, according to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The man was given oxygen and taken to hospital.
Firefighters say they used a high powered fan to clear smoke from the property.

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was killed in what police have described as "serious incident" in Linthwaite, near Huddersfield.
The incident happened last night on Manchester Road at about 23:45.
West Yorkshire Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers will remain at the location this morning while an investigation into what happened is carried out, the force said.

Christopher Tolkien, who edited and published the posthumous works of his father, Lord of the Rings writer JRR Tolkien, has died aged 95.
The news was confirmed by the Tolkien Society, which described him as "Middle-earth's first scholar".
After his father's death in 1973, Mr Tolkien published the acclaimed work The Silmarillion.
Scholar Dr Dimitra Fimi said the study of JRR Tolkien "would never be what it is today" without his input.
Christopher Tolkien was born in Leeds, and grew up in Oxford.
After serving in the RAF during World War Two he became a lecturer in Old and Middle English and Old Icelandic at Oxford University.
