    Have you seen Bryn Perry? The 15-year-old has gone missing from his home in Knottingley and police say they're concerned for his welfare.

    The teenager was last seen in the Belle Isle area of Leeds at about 17:00 on Friday 14 February and was reported missing later that evening.

    He is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, of thin build, with short blond hair and blue eyes.

    He was last seen wearing grey Adidas sportswear and speaks with a Manchester accent.

    He is known to frequent Leeds city centre and the Middleton Park area, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    Anyone with information about his whereabouts is being asked to contact police.

  3. Humber Bridge 'open to all traffic' - but slow downpublished at 08:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2020

    If you're planning on driving over the Humber Bridge today, then things are looking good - or at least better than they have over recent days.

    It remains open to all traffic after restrictions were in place - and even a complete closure last week - due to Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis.

    However, drivers on the landmark bridge are being warned to make sure they stick to the lower than usual speed limit:

  6. York river level 'expected to fall' but warnings remainpublished at 08:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2020

    River levels in North Yorkshire are continuing to be monitored following heavy rain during Storm Dennis at the weekend.

    In York, the River Ouse is currently 4.26m above its normal level, external, with levels expected to fall throughout the day, according to the Environment Agency (EA).

    A total of 18 flood warnings are currently in force in North Yorkshire, external, 11 of those being in York, external.

    As well as the River Ouse, they include the River Swale at Topcliffe and Helperby and the River Derwent at Buttercrambe Mill and Kexby Bridge.

    Last night, fire crews recovered a car which had got stuck in flood water in Acaster Malbis, five miles south of York.

    North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service says: "We advise the public to not drive through floodwater or past road closed signs. Please use an alternative route."

  7. Man jailed for 10 years over Scarborough manslaughterpublished at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    A man from Bridlington has been jailed for 10 years following the death of a 59-year-old man from Scarborough.

    James Arthur Collinson (pictured), 38, of Easton Road, was sentenced after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of John Glenn.

    Leeds Crown Court heard Mr Glenn died after an incident at the Golden Last pub on Eastborough, Scarborough, on 1 September 2019, in which Collinson punched him twice knocking him unconscious.

    Det Insp Jonathan Sygrove said: “Collinson has a long history of violence and assault and his sentence clearly reflects the seriousness of his most recent offence which resulted in the tragic loss of a man’s life.

    "His actions have caused a huge amount of pain for John Glenn’s family and this is something they will have to deal with for the rest of their lives," he added.

  8. Police praise 'hero' cop who pulled people from house firepublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    A police officer who pulled two people from a burning house in York has been called a "hero" by the North Yorkshire force.

    The officer was first on the scene of a fire last night on Huntington Road, according to North Yorkshire Police.

    The officer went into the house and helped lead a 64-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman to safety.

    The fire, which started with a faulty tumble dryer in an adjoining garage, filled the building with smoke.

    A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The brave and quick-thinking actions of the police officer helped to ensure this incident did not have a tragic outcome.

    “The officer is a credit to North Yorkshire Police and she can be very proud she has helped to save the lives of the homeowners.”

    The officer was taken to hospital after suffering the effects of breathing in smoke, with the man and woman also being checked over in hospital, according to police.

    Rotherham's railway station has reopened after heavy rain from Storm Dennis submerged the track.

    The line was underwater preventing services from stopping at Rotherham Central for two days.

    A track inspection and equipment check had to be carried out before the line reopened.

  10. Dog rescued from boot of car after police pursuitpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    A dog's been rescued from the boot of a car in York by police who stopped an 18-year-old man from Doncaster suspected of driving dangerously.

    The female French bulldog was seized after a pursuit on Foss Islands Road, according to North Yorkshire Police.

    The blue BMW vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested.

    He's since been charged with dangerous driving, driving otherwise in accordance of a licence, failing to stop and driving without insurance.

    The dog is currently doing well and remains in the care of the local vet, according to police.

    Officers now want to reunite the dog, which is micro-chipped, with its owner - but so far all attempts to do so have failed.

    Anyone with information which could help the investigation is being asked to contact police.

  12. Hull clinic 'open as normal' after coronavirus scarepublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    The Urgent Treatment Centre in Bransholme, Hull, is open as normal today after reports a patient had gone to the clinic with suspected coronavirus.

    The Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) says the patient had a suspected infectious condition which isn't coronavirus.

    It says it's carried out "precautionary cleaning" and followed normal procedures.

    The CCG is advising people in the area to attend pre-booked GP appointments as normal.

    Nationally, there have been 4,501 tests of suspected coronavirus, with just nine being confirmed as being positive.

    On the day all eyes are on the level of the River Ouse in York following Storm Dennis, Labour MP Rachael Maskell has called for improved flood defences for the city.

    Ms Maskell says: "There's a lot of frustration felt. There's been a lot of talk and lots of surveys done, but we need action.

    "Certainly I'll be pushing the government when Parliament returns to get on and get proposed schemes in place.

    "In the Clemonthorpe area of York, we should have a barrier across the road not sandbags. But also further down the river, individual properties need that resilience so they don't flood."

    There are currently 10 flood warnings in place, external for York and the surrounding area following Storm Dennis.

    Police officers have rescued two people from a burning house in York.

    Fire crews say the garage of the house in Huntington Road was well alight and spread to the house just after 22:30 last night.

    Police officers rescued the two people prior to four fire crews arriving to tackle the blaze, according to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service.

    The two people involved are being treated in hospital for the effects of breathing in smoke.

  15. Inquiry after Huddersfield teen hurt in 'targeted' attackpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    Investigations are continuing in Huddersfield today after a teenage boy was hurt in a "targeted" shooting at the weekend.

    The 15-year-old was treated at hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

    Police said he was leaving a house on Dalton Fold Road at about 19:30 on Saturday when he was followed by a group of men, one of whom had a firearm.

    Det Insp Ian Thornes, from West Yorkshire Police, said it was "clearly a very frightening incident".

    The officer said it was "extremely lucky the victim was not seriously hurt, the consequences could have been much worse".

    High visibility patrols are being carried out in the area, along with house-to-house and CCTV inquiries.

    Anyone who saw what happened, or who heard anything suspicious in and around the Dalton Fold area near the junction of Heathergrove Fold, is being asked to contact police.

  16. York's River Ouse peaks and expected to fallpublished at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    The River Ouse in York is peaking this afternoon at 4.6m above its normal level following Storm Dennis.

    The Environment Agency says it will continue to monitor the water level closely and expects it to go down over the next few days.

  17. Man arrested over attempted serious sex assault in Leedspublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    A man's been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted serious sexual assault of a woman in Leeds last week.

    Officers were called at 04:20 on Friday morning after a woman in her 20s reported being grabbed by a man and dragged onto a field next to Newhall Road in Middleton.

    The woman fought her attacker off and ran home.

    A 39-year-old man's been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody, police say.

    Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who were in the Newhall Road area at the time of the incident and who saw or heard anything suspicious to come get in touch.

  18. Roads in York closed as river level risespublished at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    Some roads in York have been closed due to flooding following Storm Dennis.

    City of York Council says the closures are in place to keep people safe.

    Thousands of sandbags have been deployed and temporary flood defences installed in the city, with the Environment Agency (EA) saying the peak river level is not expected to be as high as was first expected.

  19. Man arrested after fatal Sheffield 'hit-and-run'published at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2020

    A man remains in custody on suspicion of causing dangerous driving after a woman died in an alleged hit-and-run in Sheffield at the weekend.

    The 64-year-old woman was found lying in the street at Fox Hill Crescent, Sheffield, at about 17:50 on Saturday after being struck by a car. She died at the scene.

    South Yorkshire Police said the vehicle failed to stop.

    A man from Sheffield, 25, has also been arrested on suspicion of other driving offences and remains in custody.

    Police say they're keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a vehicle travelling through the Fox Hill area at the time of the collision, or from any witnesses to the collision.

    Officers say they'd also like to hear from any motorists who may hold dashcam footage.
