    Sarah-Jayne Tobin shared footage of her 11-year-old son Nathan's new training regime on Twitter yesterday with the comment: "When you’re a goalkeeper...and an only child...in self-isolation...and trying to keep up with your training."

    Since posting the video, it has been watched more than 7.5m times and attracted responses from players including Ben Foster and Tom Heaton.

    Meanwhile Manchester United and Spain international Juan Mata has said he would like to practice his freekicks against him "when all this is over":

    The death of a man whose body was found in the early hours of this morning on a street in Sheffield is being treated as "unexplained", say police.

    The man's body was found on Union Street, according to South Yorkshire Police.

    Officers say the man, in his 20s, has now been formally identified and efforts are being made to trace his family.

    A driver who caused a head-on smash while travelling the wrong way along the M6, above the legal drug and drink-drive limits, has been jailed by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court.

    Thirty-year-old Usman Hussain headed south in a Volkswagen Golf along lane three of the northbound carriageway, on a bend between junctions 38 at Tebay and 39 near Shap before crashing head-on into a Mercedes which was left an insurance write-off.

    The driver escaped serious injury in the collision but was left out of pocket, suffered flashbacks and lost sleep and confidence as a result of the crash.

    Hussain, of Denby Street, Bradford, admitted dangerous driving, and having taken drugs and too much alcohol.

    Recorder Eric Lamb concluded “unhesitatingly” that a 10-month prison sentence should be imposed and said Hussain, married with one child and another on the way, must serve a two-year driving ban when released, and pass an extended re-test.

    Council workers are being retrained in York so the city's bin collections can continue during the coronavirus outbreak.

    Workers are being moved from other jobs such as grass cutting and street cleaning and new staff are being recruited, according to the City of York Council.

    Councillor Paula Widdowson says: "We'll have a dozen guys trained in how to load waste lorries and 24 drivers with the right licence will spend a full day learning how to use the trucks."

    Some bus drivers will also transfer over to driving bin lorries, says the council.

    Golf courses across England will shut following the latest government measures to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

    Amateur golfers had previously been able to continue playing while adhering to guidance on social distancing.

    In a statement, England Golf said the move was “highly necessary and must be maintained until further notice”.

    It added: “Keeping golf courses open is simply no longer compatible with the updated policy of government which is designed to save lives in a time of national emergency.”

    A West Yorkshire council has announced its stopping a number of services with "immediate effect" following the prime minister's announcement on new coronavirus restrictions.

    Leeds City Council says from today:

    • All council waste sites will be closed
    • Garden waste collections have been suspended
    • All community libraries and hubs are closed
    • No litter bins will be emptied and should not be used

    The council says it's reiterating the importance of following the instructions laid down by the Prime Minister in order to stop the spread of coronavirus.

    It adds further updates will be given today about any other services which might be affected.

    The Mayor of the Sheffield City Region has described tough new measures introduced to tackle the spread of coronavirus as a "test for our country that we can't afford to fail".

    “These are unprecedented times and we all have a responsibility to work together and do everything we can to slow this virus down," said Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis in the wake of Boris Johnson's address to the nation last night.

    "The situation is grave and each day more people are dying from this disease.

    “I welcome the new measures introduced by the Prime Minister [and] I urge everyone to follow this advice and in particular to stay at home unless there is a compelling reason to leave.

    “My heartfelt thanks goes to our NHS workers and all those on the frontline who are each day risking their lives to save others. We will forever be in their debt.

    “It’s now time for everyone to follow the advice and take every measure to contain this disease. Lives depend upon it.”

    Firefighters remain at the scene of a major moorland blaze in West Yorkshire this morning.

    At its height more than 100 firefighters were needed to tackle the "mile-long fire-front" at Deer Hill Reservoir in Marsden after it broke out at about 12.30 on Monday.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say the fire is believed to have started as a result of controlled burning which then spread.

    Today, the service says it still has two fire engines and a wildfire unit at the scene "damping down hotspots".

    The Mayor of Harrogate has appealed for people to follow government advice to stay at home after his wife was diagnosed with coronavirus.

    Councillor Stuart Martin said he and his wife, April, have been in self-isolation since last week after his wife developed symptoms of the disease.

    He said she has no underlying health condition but the virus has "whacked her for six".

    “What has happened with April has been a massive shock to us – so my message to people is just please listen to what you have been told," he said.

    Police across Yorkshire are urging people not to call 999 for advice about coronavirus and the new restrictions brought in by the government.

    Following Boris Johnson's televised statement yesterday evening, in which he ordered people not to leave their homes except for a few "very limited purposes", the region's police forces say they have seen a rise in calls.

    Meanwhile, Chief Constable of Humberside Police Lee Freeman said the force had taken "a number of calls on our 101 line from people seeking answers, but at this early stage are not able to answer all of your enquiries".

    He said the force would share more information as soon as it became available but in the meantime urged people to follow the government guidance.

    The UK's woken to strict new curbs on life following an announcement by the prime minister last night of new rules imposed to help fight the coronavirus outbreak.

    In a televised statement the prime minister ordered people only to leave their homes under a list of "very limited purposes".

    Police will be given powers to enforce measures forcing people to stay at home unless shopping for food, exercising or going out for any medical need.

    Under the new rules people can also leave home to provide care for someone, or to attend essential work which can't be done anywhere else.

    The restrictions are in place for at least three weeks and will be kept under constant review, the prime minister said:

    Yorkshire's famous tearooms, Bettys, made sure unsold bread and cakes did not go to waste by sending them to local NHS staff at the weekend.

    The group decided to close its cafes - based in York, Harrogate, Ilkley and Northallerton - on Saturday, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

    Zoe Beedham, deputy branch manager at Bettys in Ilkley, decided to send supplies to the staff at Airedale Hospital in Steeton.

    She said: "We wanted to help support the amazing key workers, like those in the NHS, who are working so hard to look after us all.

    "So, we put together a care package of Fat Rascals [a type of scone], bread and treats in an effort to deliver a bit of cheer to the hospital staff."

    Firefighters in South Yorkshire say they're "appalled, baffled, angry and upset" after being called to a growing number of deliberate fires.

    On social media the service said, external: "Our firefighters were called to repeat fires overnight, all started deliberately - you name it, they extinguished it, rubbish, cars, bins and even some scrubland.

    "It's really frustrating when we're meant to be pulling together that a small minority of people do things like this."

    The service says it had far more calls last night than is usual and is asking people to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to the police.
