    Three police officers have been assaulted by a woman and three teenagers during a disturbance in East Yorkshire.

    It happened at about 23:00 last Friday at a property in Bridlington, according to Humberside Police.

    The force says three officers were assaulted as the disturbance spilled onto the street.

    A 38-year-old woman, from Bridlington, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year old boy have all been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence.

    A 16-year-old girl has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and two public order offences.

    All four have been released on bail and are due to appear at court next month.

    An NHS worker found stabbed to death at a house in Barnsley has been named by police.

    Victoria Woodhall, 31, was found dead at a house in Windsor Crescent on Sunday evening. A post-mortem examination revealed she died from multiple stab wounds.

    Earlier today, 40-year-old Craig Woodhall, appeared at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday.

    Mother-of-three Ms Woodhall was an operating department practitioner at Rotherham General Hospital.

    A GoFundMe page set up by her friends, Donna Wetherall and Kelly Sims to raise money towards funeral costs and to help her children has raised more than £5,000 in 24 hours.

    A 55-year-old man has been seriously injured in a suspected explosion at a house in Ravensthorpe.

    Emergency services were called to Crescent Walk, in Ravensthorpe, near Dewsbury, shortly after 11.30 this morning to reports of a house fire.

    West Yorkshire Police said on arrival the property had suffered "significant damage and was on fire".

    The force said a 55-year-old man has been taken to hospital for treatment, though his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

    A second male is being treated for a head injury suffered after he was hit by flying debris.

    An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

    A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting an emergency worker after allegedly coughing at an officer and claiming to have coronavirus.

    The incident is said to have happened when officers attended a report of a disturbance in Sowerby Bridge, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    While officers were there it is alleged that Jason Roberts, 45, of Athol Gardens, Ovenden, coughed at an officer, saying he had coronavirus.

    Mr Roberts appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded on bail.

    He is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on 20 April.

    A group of community volunteers are working "round the clock" to help vulnerable people in their South Yorkshire village.

    The team from Tickhill, Doncaster, formed as a reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, making sure people who might need extra help get support.

    More than 100 people have answered the call for help with donations of food and supplies flooding in, which will then be distributed to people in need.

    The group is delivering shopping and prescriptions as well as calling people who might like a chat.

    Organiser Clare Hodgen said: "There is a real sense of community in the group, we have support from a range of professionals with varied backgrounds which will help us to serve the need of the community moving forwards.

    "We want to reassure the residents of Tickhill that we are here for them, they are not alone."

    Fire crews and other emergency services are at the scene of an incident in Ravensthorpe.

    West Yorkshire fire service say they were called at 11:37 today to reports of an explosion on Crescent Walk.

    It is believed to be in a house.

    Crews from Cleckheaton, Mirfield, Dewsbury, Rastrick, Ossett and Morley are at the scene.

    An aerial appliance has also been deployed by the fire service.

    A Yorkshire fire service says it's ready to step up and help drive ambulances or deliver food and medicine to hospitals to ease the pressure on other emergency services.

    As part of a national agreement, fire services across the country will offer their assistance as the UK braces for the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.

    South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said its crew members will be among those volunteering their time and expertise to help the NHS,

    The work will be alongside their usual duty of responding to emergency incidents such as fire and road traffic collisions.

    Alex Johnson, from South Yorkshire Police, said: "Our firefighters are trained to an extremely high standard. They have a huge amount of experience in driving blue light vehicles.

    "Now, more than ever, is the time to come together."

    A man has died a week after a collision in Sheffield, police say.

    The 51-year-old pedestrian was involved in a collison with a black Skoda Yeti on Tuesday 24 March at about 19:10.

    It happened on Beet Street, Netherthorpe.

    The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He has since died.

    Any witnesses to the incident, especially those who may have dash cameras video, are being asked to come forward.

    The White Swan Inn, in Pickering, is to give away the rooms as some NHS staff might need to distance themselves from poorly family members.

    Hotel owner Victor Buchanan says they want to help: "It's clear from the media that there's a need for frontline NHS workers who can't go home, because maybe there's somebody in their house that's infected already, and they need to keep working.

    "But some of them can't do that, as they have nowhere to stay".

    People living on the coast are being warned that seagulls may be more aggressive than usual due to a drop in food sources amid the coronavirus lockdown.

    With people told to stay at home during the virus outbreak the number of visitors to the seaside has dropped dramatically.

    As a result, East Riding of Yorkshire Council is warning that gulls may be behaving more aggressively than usual.

    In a statement it said: "Coastal residents are being advised that, due to a lack of food sources, seagulls may be more hungry than normal and may behave aggressively.

    "Residents are asked not to eat on the seafront areas, to encourage the birds to fend for themselves away from towns."

    The council has also said that while its nature reserves remain open government advice is that people should take their permitted daily exercise near their homes, and should avoid non-essential car journeys.

    The Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police has defended the number of checkpoints her force is operating to make sure people only make essential journeys during the coronavirus outbreak.

    There's been criticism some forces have been heavy handed, with the former Supreme Court judge, Lord Sumption, claiming Britain is in danger of being turned into a police state.

    Lisa Winward, who leads the North Yorkshire force, says: "We have such a vast county to cover and found the weekend before last vast amounts of people heading out to beauty spots in the lovely weather.

    "Therefore it was absolutely proportionate and appropriate for us to stop people, ask them where they were going and remind them of what the guidance says."

    A man from Sheffield who is stuck in West Africa says he is unsure if he is eligible to be flown home under the the Government's plans to repatriate UK tourists stranded overseas.

    Adam Bradford, 27 was meant to fly home from Cotonou, in Benin, on 19 March.

    However, his flight was cancelled and prices for tickets have risen to more than £4,000.

    The government announced yesterday that it has made an arrangement with airlines to fly home tens of thousands of stranded British travellers where commercial flights are no longer available.

    But Mr Bradford says it was unclear what constituted a priority country and didn't know if he was included.

    He said: "I have overstayed my visa and cannot get an extension. Thus I am here illegally until further notice."

    He said that shortly after the announcement, he was told by the nearest British embassy, across the border in Ghana, that Benin did not constitute a priority country.

    Mr Bradford said he is now looking for affordable flights in May, but added: "But they could well be cancelled, the ones before it were."

    Details have been released about how residents in the Scarborough area can defer their council tax payments during the coronavirus pandemic.

    People can have their April and May payments moved back if they are struggling financially due to the restrictions currently in place, according to Scarborough Borough Council.

    Some people are now being urged to cancel direct debit payments if they were due to have a bill this week.

    A spokesman for the council said: “Payments due to be taken by direct debit on 15th and 25th of the month can be deferred for two months.

    "If we're due to take a payment by direct debit on 1 April and you can't pay the installment, your best course of action would be to cancel your direct debit at the bank then contact us to set it up again before June 2020."

    Roxanne Bootland (pictured), 31, was last seen on 20 March in the Holbeck area, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    She's described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, with red long hair, blue eyes and tattoos on the back of her neck, right hand and left leg.

    When last seen she was wearing black jeans, a white shirt, black high-heel boots and a black denim jacket.

    Anyone who sees her is being asked to contact police.
