Kevin Smith (pictured) died at his workplace, Doncaster Royal Infirmary, after a 'brief but courageous battle' on Easter Sunday, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said.

Scarborough councillor Rich Maw says more and more people are asking him when they can go to recycling centres again.

He says he's written to North Yorkshire County Council's (NYCC) chief executive Richard Flinton and MP Robert Goodwill about his concerns.

Last week, the county council said its 21 recycling sites would remain closed until further notice, despite the government approving their re-opening where safe to do so.

In his letter, Mr Maw wrote: “Fly-tipping in Weaponness and Ramshill has increased of late and I would suggest this issue will doubtlessly be repeated throughout.

“Any system which could allow for residents to use the recycling facilities would be welcome.”

In response, Ian Fielding, from NYCC, said: “Our household waste recycling centres remain closed for public safety and to cut non-essential travel, but we will open them as soon as we can.

“We are considering how and when we might be able to open our sites and operate them without putting staff or the public at risk."
