Read MoreA corn snake has been rescued from a garden in Pontefract after it was found "in the nick of time" by a member of the public mowing their lawn.
The reptile, which is believed to be a pet, had a lucky escape from the lawn mower blades yesterday, according to the RSPCA.
Insp Vanessa Reid, who collected the stray snake from Boycott Way, said: “This snake is only a baby really, so he was extremely lucky he was spotted in the long grass and managed to avoid losing his life to the lawn mower.
"He has lots of bruising on him with no wound or obvious injuries on the outside, so we don’t know how this might have happened."
Insp Reid added: “Exotic pets like corn snakes have incredibly specialist needs and it can be challenging and expensive to meet their needs in captivity.
"This is why we would urge anyone considering an exotic pet to really consider whether they have the time, funds and resources needed to care for them properly.”
She said the snake had been taken to a reptile establishment for care.
The crew of a Boeing 747 cargo plane have escaped injury after their aircraft came off the runway at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
The plane was pictured surrounded by airport firefighters, after leaving the runway this afternoon and become stuck in the grass.
A spokesperson from Doncaster Sheffield Airport said some flights have been diverted and it's not clear how long it'll take to reopen the runway.
They said “We can confirm that the runway at Doncaster Sheffield Airport is temporarily closed due to a 747 freight aircraft requiring operational support. There were no passengers on board at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries to colleagues or crew.
"The freight on board the aircraft may be offloaded to aid recovery."
The fire team attended but after confirming the aircraft was safe returned to the station, the spokesperson added.
They said: "This will cause disruption to flights arriving and departing from DSA this afternoon. An inbound flight from Poznan will divert to Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) and the outbound passengers to Poznan will be provided with transport to meet their flight from LBA.
"At this time it is unclear how quickly the runway can reopen. Passengers traveling to Katowice and Gdansk this evening should keep in touch with their airline. "
Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of more than £250,000 have been found behind locked metal gates at a property in Sheffield.
The raid on an address in Grimesthorpe yesterday resulted in the seizure of cannabis estimated to be worth at least £280,000, according to South Yorkshire Police.
Det Insp Andy Shields said: “On arrival, officers were forced to dismantle metal gates fixed behind the front door.
“These types of homemade fortifications are usually installed to protect those at the property whilst money and drugs are exchanged."
Two men, aged 34 and 24, arrested on suspicion of drugs offences are being held in custody.
More than half the funds will go to schemes across Yorkshire and on the Suffolk coast.

Fairy Bricks sends Lego to hospitals across the UK and Europe so children can play with it during their stays.
But it says its Huddersfield-based warehouse was broken into over the weekend, with Lego worth up to £400,000 being stolen.
A van which the charity uses to take the donations to and from hospitals was also stolen, but has since been recovered, it said.
It said: "This is pretty devastating for us. We have not been able to go through everything yet but it is £300,000 to £400,000 of stuff."

Despite the road now reopening in both directions, people are being asked to avoid the area due to the major disruption.

Police officers are too busy dealing with assaults and domestic violence to enforce people not wearing face masks, the police federation in South Yorkshire says.
Wearing a face covering in shops and supermarkets in England is to become mandatory from 24 July.
Those who don't follow the rules could be fined up to £100, the government is due to announce.
It comes as the World Health Organisation recommended wearing face coverings in indoor spaces, with many countries in Europe already making it mandatory.
But actually enforcing the new laws is the last thing the police want to do right now, the chairman of the South Yorkshire Federation has said.
Steve Kent, who represents police officers in the county, told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We could do without this to be honest.
"Work is back to normal now. The demand levels are what they are - back to normal and officers are literally being pulled from pillar to post.
"Imagine going between the calls of the things that are really important, like your assaults and your domestic incidents, and then you get a call from a shop saying: 'Mrs Miggins is refusing to put a face mask on, you need to come round and enforce it'. I mean, come on, it's just a very difficult scenario."

Plans have been submitted to build a 146-acre solar farm in East Yorkshire.
Harmony Energy Storage has submitted plans to East Riding Council to install 99,360 solar panels on land near Skerne, near Driffield, and build an on-site substation.
Developers say the farm would generate 30 MW of energy if built.
Plans also include a 2.5m perimeter fence and the site would be monitored by 15 pole mounted CCTV cameras, the tallest standing at almost 6.8m.
Developers say: “The site area and layout of the proposals have been developed with the characteristics of the existing site and on site constraints in mind.
“The amount and scale of the development are considered appropriate having regard to the potential visual impacts of the scheme.”
