The Fender Stratocaster guitar was used in many of the band's early performances.

The band are working with the Music Venue Trust to support The Leadmill, a Sheffield venue where Turner has used the guitar, and other independent UK grassroots venues.

A minimum donation of £5 bought entry to the raffle and 14,410 tickets were sold over a two-week period.

After forming in Sheffield, Arctic Monkeys performed at several venues around the country during the early stages of their career, and regularly played at The Leadmill in the city.

The venue has also played host to Pulp, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Muse, Oasis, Stone Roses, The White Stripes, Jorja Smith and Michael Kiwanuka over the last four decades.

Independent venues have had to cancel events and face an uncertain future because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week the government announced it would deliver £3.36m in grants to 135 grassroots music venues facing closure.

  6. Sheffield Crown Court to use portable cabins for juriespublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 25 August 2020

Juries at Sheffield Crown Court will consider their verdicts in portable cabins to maintain social distancing, a judge has said.

    Sheffield Crown Court

Plans are in place to install a number of the cabins in the car park at the court.

The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, told jurors in one trial it was hoped they would be in place by the time the case ended next month.

The move is intended to help jurors keep a distance of 2m (more than 6ft) from each other.

Judge Richardson, however, said steps were being taken to install portable cabins as some retiring rooms at the court were "not big enough".

He said: "It's easier said than done.

"We need planning permission because we need to lop some trees in order for the crane to deliver them. Believe me it's a logistical nightmare."

He said if it was not possible to bring in the cabins the courtroom itself may have to be used as a retiring room but said that would have an impact on the court's ability to handle cases.

  9. Several branches of Co-op Bank to close in Yorkshirepublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 25 August 2020

As well as jobs lost due to the branch closures, the cuts also include middle management and head office roles.

The bank said that, where possible, it would look to redeploy colleagues.

The Yorkshire branches of the bank which are set to close are in Bradford, Harrogate, Rotherham, Wakefield and York.

The Co-op Bank's chief executive, Andrew Bester, said was "very sorry" for the cuts, which he also blamed on the current record low interest rates.

"We're not immune to the impact of recent events, with the historically low base rate affecting the income of all banks and a period of prolonged economic uncertainty ahead, which means it's important we reduce costs and have the right-sized operating model in place for the future," he said.

"We are responding to the continuing shift of more and more customers choosing to bank online, with lower levels of transactions in branches, a trend which has been increasing for some time, across the banking sector and more broadly."

The branches being closed will shut by the end of the year. The bank said it had looked carefully at customer numbers using the branches before picking the 18 for closure.

Dr Cheryl Walter, a virologist and lecturer in microbiology at the University of Hull, said: "For older children, I think wearing a mask is a very good idea.

"Older children will have larger 'bubbles', they're more likely to come into contact with a larger group of people and they might not have any symptoms and inadvertently be spreading it to people."
