Televisions and fridges found in River Hull litter pickpublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 26 April 2021
More than 100 bags of rubbish and other dumped items including televisions and fridges were cleared from a two-mile stretch of the River Hull near Beverley at the weekend.
The Wombles of Beverley and the Kingston Kayak club, which both pick litter, joined forces yesterday to clean up the area.
Sarah Jones (pictured), who helped pick up the rubbish said: "It was only a very short stretch of river but we collected lots of cans of lager and cider and several tyres. We also found lots of crisp packets and sweet wrappers."
Along with the bags of rubbish collectors say they found a scooter, a television, an armchair and two fridges.
Volunteers say another litter pick is planned to happen in the same area soon.
