    Two men have appeared in court charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death in Sheffield.

    Danny Irons, 32, was found in the street at Fretson Green in the Manor area at about 00:35 on 17 April.

    Daniel Chadwick, 29, of Melville Drive and Ross Turton, 29, of Daneswood Avenue, both in Sheffield, appeared at the city's magistrates' court.

    They are next to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday and both have been remanded in custody.

    A 24-year-old man and 28-year-old man previously arrested have been released under investigation, said South Yorkshire Police.

    Two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teenager during a street fight.

    Police were called to Duckworth Lane in Bradford at midnight on Thursday after reports of a "large group" of men fighting and cars being damaged.

    A 19-year-old man was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary shortly afterwards with a single stab wound but later died.

    Two men, aged 17 and 20, had since been arrested for violent disorder as part of the murder inquiry, police said.

    The local community was "understandably concerned", the West Yorkshire force added.

    Bradford District Commander, Ch Supt Daniel Greenwood, said officers were working to provide reassurance to local people.

    He said: "The local community is understandably very distressed by this incident, especially as it is happened during the holy month of Ramadan."

    Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

    People living in Kirklees can get free Covid-19 lateral flow home testing kits at four sites across the borough, it's been confirmed.

    One-day mobile collection points are to be set up in Dewsbury, Batley, Ravensthorpe and Sheepridge in Huddersfield over the next four days.

    Kirklees Council’s pilot scheme will allow anyone over 18 to collect two packs of home testing kits, each containing seven tests.

    No booking is required but anyone turning up is being asked to wear a face covering and social distance from anyone outside their household or bubble.

    Testing can also be carried out on the spot at the mobile collection point

    The mobile collection points are at:

    • Ravensthorpe Shopping Park - open on Friday 23 April 08:00-12:00, then 13:00-17:00
    • Sainsbury's, Dewsbury - open on Saturday 24 April 08:00-12:00, then 13:00-17:00
    • Wards Hill car park, Batley - open on Sunday 25 April 08:00-12:00, then 13:00-17:00
    • Chestnut Centre, Sheepridge - open on Monday 25 08:00-12:00, then 13:00-17:00

    Rachel Spencer-Henshall, the council’s strategic director for public health, urged residents to use one of the mobile collection points if they are struggling to access twice-weekly asymptomatic tests through the other options available.

    She said: "We’re piloting these mobile collection points to make it even easier for people to take up the offer of getting tested twice a week."

    The driver of a car which was on a street in Grimsby at the time of robbery at a convenience store earlier this week is being asked to get in touch with police.

    A shop worker was left "shaken" after being threatened with weapons by three men during the robbery at a shop on Brereton Avenue between 20:30 and 20:50 on Wednesday.

    Det Sgt Darren Gray, from Humberside Police, said "We are continuing to conduct extensive inquiries to identify the three men shown in the CCTV images in connection with the incident.

    "We would specifically like help to identify the driver of a dark coloured car on Brereton Avenue, who we believed witnessed the incident.

    "We are also appealing to anyone who believes they were in the area at the time of the incident who may be able to assist us with our inquiries to please contact us," he said.

    A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of two people who died in a suspected arson attack on a house in West Yorkshire.

    Samantha Mills, 31, and Reece Schofield, 24, died as a result of the blaze in Clare Hill, Huddersfield, on 23 March 2021.

    Four other people were also injured and required hospital treatment.

    Craig Collier, 34, of Clare Hill, appeared at Bradford Crown Court charged with two counts of murder and four of attempted murder.

    He was previously charged with arson and perverting the course of justice in relation to the blaze.

    Judge Richard Mansell QC set a preliminary trial date for 16 November, with a plea hearing scheduled at Leeds Crown Court for 21 May.

    Almost £9,000 has so far been raise for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) by a group of firefighters from Leeds who undertook the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge while dressed in their full kit.

    Five members of white watch at Hunslet Fire Station completed the 24-mile route between Pen-y-ghent and Ribblehead on Wednesday.

    The route takes in Pen-y-Ghent at 2,277ft, Whernside at 2,414ft and Ingleborough 2,372ft (pictured above).

    One of the team was Mark Newton, the brother-in-law of Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow.

    Mr Burrow was diagnosed with MND in December 2019.

    Mr Newton said: "It went well until the last peak - that's when it hit home.

    "It was like having razor blades on the bottom of your feet while somebody stood on your back, but we did it for one reason, to raise money for MNDA."

    He added: "To everybody who donated, thank you very much, it means the world."

    So far the challenge has raised a total of £8,714.

    A man walked into a woman on Crimble Bank, Slaithwaite, on Saturday 10 April, between 08:00 and 08:15, police said.

    The incident led to an argument between the two during which the suspect exposed himself, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Lincolnshire after being found carrying an 11-inch "zombie style knife" and a "significant amount" of class A drugs, police say.

    CCTV operators in Grantham alerted officers to suspicious behaviour on Tuesday which prompted a search of the man, according to Lincolnshire Police.

    A spokesperson for the force said: "He was later arrested for the possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and was also arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of controlled drugs."

    The 18-year-old has been released while an investigation takes place, officers confirmed.

    Six marmoset monkeys have been rehomed after being found living in a home in Bradford, it's been revealed.

    The family was taken into care after its owner got in touch and asked for help, according to the RSPCA.

    Inspector Kim Greaves, the animal charity's national exotics coordinator, said: "We were contacted by a woman who had bought two marmosets from a pet shop and now had a family group of six - three females and three males.

    "She’d had the monkeys for five years and approached us to ask for help because she was struggling to meet their needs.”

    The marmosets have now been moved to a private exotics specialist sanctuary in Cambridgeshire where they have a "suitable enclosure and carers who understand primates’ complex needs", the charity said.

    In December 2020, the government launched a consultation - which ended in February - and proposed a ban on the keeping of primates as pets, external.

    The RSPCA says it's welcomed the proposed ban after working with other animal welfare organisations and primate rescue groups for years calling for such a ban.

    Train passengers in the north of England and Scotland are being advised not to travel to London this weekend.

    No trains will run from the north to London Kings Cross from today until Monday, as major upgrades are made to the signalling system

    Passengers are advised to choose alternative dates to travel as LNER trains will terminate at Peterborough or Stevenage, and journeys will take longer than usual.

    Network Rail and Great Northern advise passengers to check their journeys, external and plan ahead today.

    People are urged not to travel at all unless it’s essential on Saturday or Sunday when there will closures across the East Coast route, including no trains via Finsbury Park to or from King’s Cross, St Pancras or Moorgate.

    Great Northern, external say today services which usually run to and from London Kings Cross will start and end at Finsbury Park for connections with London Underground services to King’s Cross.

    A teenager has died after he was stabbed during a fight early this morning.

    The 19-year-old man went to hospital with a single stab wound following a fight on Duckworth Lane, Bradford just after midnight on Friday.

    He was pronounced dead a short time later, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    A "large group" of men were seen fighting, police said, with witnesses to the disorder urged to come forward as part of the murder inquiry.

    A number of vehicles were also damaged during the fight.

    Large police cordons are in place near Duckworth Lane while officers carry out forensic work, West Yorkshire Police added.
