    Two teenagers have been hurt in an alleyway fight involving machetes.

    A 15-year-old boy received a "significant head injury consistent with being struck over the head", police said.

    Another boy, 17, suffered a wrist wound during the fight in Osmondthorpe, Leeds.

    Both were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken to hospital.

    A 16-year-old was arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of drugs.

    Neither boy suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

    West Yorkshire Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage recorded near York Road and Rookwood Avenue at about 18:30 BST on Tuesday to contact them.

    Police have cordoned off part of a Leeds park after a woman was sexually assaulted earlier today.

    The victim contacted police after the attack in Holbeck Park at 04:00.

    A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "The incident is being investigated by Leeds District Safeguarding Unit and a scene is in place in a wooded area of the park next to the M621 while enquiries into the incident continue.

    "Anyone who was in the vicinity of the park and witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District Safeguarding Unit.

    All requested postal votes in Sheffield should have landed on doorsteps, despite an earlier delay at the printers for some ballots, says Sheffield Council.

    Kate Josephs, returning officer for Sheffield said: "If anyone hasn’t received theirs, please get in touch with us at elections@sheffield.gov.uk, external."

    Ms Josephs also reminded voters that postal ballot papers can be hand delivered to the Town Hall or at voters' local polling station by 22:00 on Thursday - election day.

    The delay discovered last month had affected about 15,000 voters whose postal votes were delayed due to a printing error.

    A gang of masked thieves threatened a man with a metal bar when they tried to steal the catalytic converter from his wife's car, police say.

    Ali Fashakh confronted the men outside his home in Gledhow, Leeds, but backed away as he feared "one of them was about to strike me".

    He said it was the second time the vehicle had been targeted in a month.

    Mr Fashakh said the first theft took place in March, when a neighbour chased three men away from his wife's Toyota Prius.

    However, he said when he checked the next day the device had gone, adding: "I am not sure if they came back later that night when we were asleep."

    The vehicle was targeted again on 21 April.

    Mr Fashakh said he heard a noise and looked out of the window to see three men surrounding the car.

    He said: "They all had iron rods in their hands, so I shouted at them then ran downstairs and confronted them. One of them was about to strike me, so I backed away at that point."

    Mr Fashakh managed to film the men on his mobile phone and passed the footage (pictured above), to West Yorkshire Police, though no arrests have been made.

    A “small number of voters” in Calderdale have experienced a delay in receiving postal votes, according to the council.

    Anyone who has not got a postal vote that was applied for should contact the Calderdale Council on electoral-services@calderdale.gov.uk, external or call 01422 393103 for a replacement, the council said.

    Calderdale serves about 212,000 residents across Halifax and centres like Brighouse, Hebden Bridge, and Mytholmroyd.

    Robin Tuddenham, Chief Executive of the council and its returning officer, said: “We are aware that a small number of voters have experienced delays in receiving their postal votes, due to circumstances beyond our control, but we understand that the majority of these arrived on Saturday.”

    Voters with a postal ballot can take it to any Calderdale polling station or Halifax Town Hall by 22:00 on Thursday – election day, he added.

    The organisers of the Bingley Weekender say they are optimistic the festival will go ahead after fans expressed fears it had been cancelled.

    Music lovers had taken to the three-day event’s Facebook page to complain of a “frustrating” lack of information and said messages inquiring whether it was still on had been ignored.

    After being contacted by the BBC, the organisers released a statement saying they were “keeping abreast of all government guidelines” and “planning to go ahead this August”.

    “We are feeling positive but need further clarification which hopefully will come very soon. We will be making a further announcement as soon as we can," they said.

    Staff found the man and woman, believed to be in their late 30 or early 40s, at the Double Tree by Hilton Majestic Hotel and Spa on Tuesday.

    They were pronounced dead after police were called to Springfield Avenue at 22:20.

    Officers said have not yet named the couple, from the London area, but said they were not looking for anyone in connection with their deaths.

    Det Supt Wayne Fox said it was believed to be an isolated incident.

    Their families have been informed, the force added.

    The car veered off the carriageway, trapping the driver and two passengers at about 23:50 on Monday 3 May, according to North Yorkshire Police.

    The driver and the rear seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency service, police said.

    The front seat passenger, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries, officers added.

    No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident.

    A police spokesperson said: "All three occupants were from the West Yorkshire area. The vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia, was later reported stolen."

    Rotherham Council says a “small number” of postal votes in the town have been delayed.

    The authority hasn't said why the postal votes have been delayed, or how many people have been affected.

    Anyone who applied for a postal vote by the deadline of 17:00 on 20 April and who hasn't received their postal vote with their post today is being asked to contact the council.

    The council says it will then deliver a replacement postal vote to those people.

    In a statement Sharon Kemp, Returning Officer for Rotherham Borough, said: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, a small number of postal votes may have been delayed. We believe this could be up to 1% of the overall number of postal votes.

    "Once people do receive their votes, I advise them to move very quickly. Get the form filled in and return on the same day if possible."

    Voters have until today to put their vote in the post.

    They can also put their vote through the letterbox at Riverside House on any day up to and including polling day until 22:00, or hand their postal vote in at any polling station by 22:00 on polling day (Thursday 6 May), the authority said.

    The Wars of the Roses, some of the most notorious battles to have taken place in British history, were a series of civil wars for the throne of England between the House of York and the House of Lancaster, both members of the royal Plantagenet family.

    Between 1455 and 1487 England was torn apart by a series of violent struggles for the throne.

    The period witnessed the deposition of three kings, and the violent death of two of them, in a series of bloody battles which became known as the Wars of the Roses.

    The conflicts are thought to be named after the emblems of the contending parties: the white rose of York and the red rose of Lancaster

    The Battle of Towton in North Yorkshire in 1461 and The Battle of Wakefield in 1460 are among those featured in the collection which were illustrated by Graham Turner, a leading medieval and military artist.

    Footpaths across the Humber Bridge are to reopen on Thursday, it's been confirmed.

    They were closed on 3 April following a number of suicides at the 1.4 mile-long bridge.

    Labour MP Emma Hardy said the Humber Bridge Board had told her the paths on either side would be open between 05:00 and 21:00 every day.

    Pedestrians and cyclists who want to cross outside these hours would be "required to register with the bridge beforehand", the MP added.

    The Hull West and Hessle MP said the board had installed extra CCTV cameras and was opening a "wellbeing hub" staffed by specialist mental health and wellbeing volunteers and using additional signage on the footway.

    "The Humber Bridge is an iconic and beautiful structure, loved by many and I know how upset people were when the walkway had to close," she said.

    "I will continue to meet with the Humber Bridge Board regularly to monitor progress in the development of physical safety measures, such as barriers, and keep everyone updated."

    The BBC has contacted the board for a response.

    Labour said the treats were only given to party members after canvassing - which is not against the rules.

    Former actor Ms Brabin (pictured) is one of seven candidates in tomorrow's West Yorkshire mayoral election.

    A force spokesman said: "West Yorkshire Police can confirm that after an investigation following the circulation of social media posts and a direct complaint re electoral matters that no offences have been recorded."

    The mayoral election was originally meant to take place in May 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

    Voters in Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford can all make a selection.
