The campaign, which begins today, is called 'Love Your Railway' and aims to highlight the important work heritage lines do around conservation, education and research.

It will run for the next six weeks.

The line is no stranger to the spotlight, appearing in numerous film and TV productions.

Tom Cruise recently filmed scenes for the next Mission Impossible movie on the railway, which runs between Pickering and Grosmont.

Harrison Ford was also there earlier in the summer, shooting parts of his latest Indiana Jones film.

The railway's general manager Chris Price says they recently raised nearly £500,000 in an appeal to save the line and the "love for the railway is phenomenal".

He's says the pandemic has been "incredibly stressful" for heritage railways, which often cost thousands of pounds a day to run, because they have either not been able to operate, or have been restricted to a reduced capacity.
