A trial which created segregated cycle lanes in and around Hull city centre will be made permanent after councillors voted to keep them.
Under the scheme, Freetown Way will return to two lanes of traffic but will keep a dedicated lane for cyclists.
Meanwhile, lanes in Holderness Road, Spring Bank, Ferensway, Anlaby Road, Hessle Road and Beverley Road are also going to stay alongside 07:00 – 18:30 bus lanes.
Councillor Dean Kirk, who is responsible for highways and transport, says: “The way in which we travel is changing, and how we share the road space is a key consideration for the council.
"We appreciate that changes to how people travel may not happen overnight, but our ambition is to build a transport network that works for everyone.”
The council says the cycle lanes, alongside improved pedestrian crossings and road upgrades, will help to improve health, combat air pollution and reduce congestion on the city’s roads.
But the plans have been met with opposition from some motorists who say the changes have actually created a "nightmare" at rush hour.
Chris Davidson owns taxi firm Hull Cars and says: "You only have to look out of your window in a morning and an evening to see the chaos it causes."
The £96m project in Hull city centre will provide shops, offices and homes as well as a urban park.

A mum from East Yorkshire has been named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero for 2021.
Sam Barlow, from Cottingham, was nominated by the Fitmums & Friends group which she set up 12 years ago and has since grown to help thousands of people across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
After losing her husband Mike to cancer last year, she also started a fitness and support group for people experiencing loss which she has described as the "best things she's ever done".
Sam was amongst 15 winners of local awards from across the UK who were nominated for their exceptional efforts.
The overall winner was crowned by a panel of experts from the sports volunteer sector after a day of deliberations and debates.

Read MoreA woman called 999 to complain that her "boyfriend wouldn’t kiss her", Lincolnshire Police has said.
The force has appealed to people to only use the emergency number when "life or property are in immediate danger".
Other "simply unbelievable" calls included asking for train times, a number for a dentist and calling to report someone had no water.
Mike Modder-Fitch, who runs the force's control room, said the run-up to Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for call-takers.
He said time wasting calls could stop people with a life threatening emergency getting through.
“When it’s a hoax call or simply not a policing matter we have to terminate the call to free the lines," he said.
"If you’re on a night out and one of your drunk mates things it’s ok to call the 999 line, my ask is that you stop them from wasting our and their time.
“It could really make a difference to a genuine call. We can’t help with food orders, taxis or the number for dentists.”
The boss of Harrogate District Hospital , externalhas said "it feels very much like Christmas might be cancelled in the NHS", as the Omicron variant continues to spread.
A record number of daily coronavirus cases have been reported across the UK over recent days.
Steve Russell, the chief executive of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, also told BBC Radio York: "It's highly likely the NHS is going to be tested at least as much as it was at the previous peak and it's possible it will be tested even further because Omicron is so very, very transmissible."
Meanwhile York's assistant director of public health, Fiona Phillips, said: "There are cases of the Omicron variant in the city, but it's much more widespread in areas in the south and East Midlands, so we know it's probably on its way to us and we're not seeing the full affect yet."

A new domestic abuse support group has been set up in Bradford for South Asian men.
The Men Reaching Out project hopes to help male survivors talk about the issue and help deal with the stigma attached to men wanting help.
Khan, not his real name, said: “It’s long overdue. Male domestic abuse is a huge issue and for various reasons men don’t speak about it. It’s very difficult at the moment and hopefully this is a long journey to help more men”.
The project hopes to make it easier for men to come forward and has support workers working in the community.
One of those is Luna Ali, who said: “What we’re trying to do is open up a safe platform where men can come and seek help. There’s a massive stigma around it because men feel there’s a massive taboo to talk about it.”
Men Reaching Out is believed to be the first of its kind which is aimed at South Asian men who have experience male domestic abuse.
The organisation believes this can help bring positive change.
Today, it will be mostly dull and overcast to start.
