Ice warning as temperatures drop but snow to go - forecast

have a warning from the Met Office for widespread icy stretches.
PA MediaCopyright: PA Media
So, lots of sunshine today and that will help to melt the snow, but overnight we are looking at hard frosts.
Some Pennine parts and some parts where we've got a big chunk of snow could see temperatures as low as -8C (18F) to -10C (14F), and even further east we could be down at about -4C (25F) or -5C (23F).
On untreated roads and pavements it'll be really icy, treacherous surfaces into Saturday and that is our main concern for the short-term.
It is going to get milder into Sunday, but before that a band of sleet and snow will bring perhaps a fresh few centimetres, or more to higher routes, overnight Saturday into Sunday.
But it'll turn back to rain at lower levels and it will introduce milder air, so through Sunday, it'll mainly be rain.
