    There's around 200 people with placards calling for "love not bombs" as MPs decide whether or not the UK should carry out air strikes in Syria.

    Police have seized bags of the drug MCAT from a property in Measham., external

    Two men, aged 26 and 32, were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.

    Insp Helena Bhakta, police commander for North West Leicestershire Police, said: “This warrant was executed as a result of local people raising their concerns to us about drug dealing."

  5. Harborough MP raises concerns over Syria reconstructionpublished at 17:13

    Harborough's Conservative MP, Sir Edward Garnier, has spoken in the Commons about his concerns over re-building Syria.

    MP's are debating whether or not the UK should target Syria with air strikes.

    He said: "Will he ensure that we complete the military aspect of this campaign, if at all possible, so that we can then get onto the really important, but perhaps the most difficult aspect of the questions that he's posed. 

    "Namely the post conflict stabilisation and the reconstruction of Syria because without this early stage, there wont be a Syria to reconstruct."

    It's all about trees in Leicester today...

    The Saffron Acres Project have embarked on a new scheme today, aimed at planting about 800 trees on land off Saffron Lane.

    Mayor Peter Soulsby was there to help with lots of volunteers, local residents and school. BBC Radio Leicester's Helen McCarthy also got stuck in.

  10. Hundreds in Leicester to oppose Syria air strikespublished at 15:40

    About 250 demonstrators opposed to UK air strikes in Syria are expected to gather at Leicester's Clock Tower this evening. 

    It's been organised by Leicester Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and is due to start at 17:00.

  11. Bus U-turn welcomed by councillorpublished at 15:21

    Jeffrey Kaufman, from Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, has welcomed Arriva's decision to reverse the recent changes to its number 31 bus route.

    He said: "Unbelievable news, incredible news, it will really please a lot of people who relied on the bus service to get in and out of town.

    "I don't think it should have ever been stopped."

    The House of Commons is hosting a ten-hour debate on whether the UK should launch air strikes in Syria.

    Edward Argar, Conservative MP for Charnwood, said: "I can fully appreciate and understand concerns people express, but in terms of the threat to the UK, the reality is, these are people who are committed to attacking all that we in Britain stand for.

    "Whether we do something or do nothing is not going to affect the fact they will and continue to threaten us."

  13. Change of heart for bus firmpublished at 14:50

    Do you remember us telling you about Arriva changing its number 31 bus service because of "safety concerns"?

    Well now the firm has changed its mind.

    A decision was made to change the route through Oadby, leaving out bus stops on Launde Road and Copse Road.

    Now Arriva has said it will reinstate the service in the New Year.

  16. Birstall's cone-shaped tree 'something different'published at 14:04

    More the 100 people have now signed a petition to have the blue Christmas tree in Birstall replaced. The cone shaped tree cost £7,000.

    Chair of the parish council, Anne Marshall, says: "What we've tried to do, is improve our decorations.

    "We took a great deal of criticism over the last two or three years by residents that thought the tree wasn't very good.

    "Councillors listened to that and decided to try something different."

  17. Hospital apologises for ambulance delaypublished at 13:32

    Leicester Hospitals Trust has said sorry for the delay in an ambulance getting to an 80-year-old woman with a broken hip.

    It took East Midlands Ambulance Service two hours to get to Gloria Joseph.

    EMAS says the delay was because of the slow handover at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

    Richard Mitchell, from the hospital, said: “These delays are also incredibly hard and demotivating for the staff working in our emergency department and of course the ambulance crews.

    “We are working closely with EMAS and have a joint understanding of the problem. However our organisations alone cannot fix this. 

    "The urgent healthcare system continues to see an increase in demand with more and more patients turning up at our emergency department for care."
