    Staying dry and clear into the evening and for the first half of the night. The winds will ease down and there will be more cloud by the end of the night. 

    Temperatures will fall below freezing for most with a minimum temperature of -2C (28F).

    Weather

    A cold and frosty start to tomorrow. There will be some cloud early on but it will thin and break through the morning to give a dry and bright day with some sunshine. 

    The winds will remain light and temperatures will peak at 7C (45F).

    After Wayne ran the marathon he had a message from his mum back in Leicester.

    She said: "I cannot begin to tell you how very proud I am of you Wayne, words just aren't enough to describe. My heart is bursting with such pride. 

    "You are amazing and stronger than you realise. Your strength of character always shines. I love you so much my amazing handsome strong son, so proud you’re mine. XxX"

    Leicester’s hospitals have said how grateful they are for Wayne’s donation and how impressed they are that he managed to run a marathon in such extreme conditions.

    Jane Lee, Modern Matron for Haematology at Leicester’s hospitals, said: "The effort he has put in is a huge inspiration for everyone on the ward including patients, their families and carers and all the staff. 

    "The money will go towards exercise equipment and helping to improve patients’ comfort on the ward. 

    "We would again like to reiterate our thanks for the hard work he has put in to help support his mum and the ward.”

    Running any marathon is an amazing achievement but imagine doing it in Iraq.

    That's what a Leicester corporal did on Christmas day to raise money for Ward 41 at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, where his mum is being treated.

    Corporal Wayne Delahunty of the 1st Battalion of the Rifles raised £500 for the Haematology Ward, external where his mum is undergoing chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukaemia.

    Earlier this week we told you about Gog the missing dog from Leicester and how devastated her owner is.

    The Yorkshire Terrier was inside a navy blue pushchair, which was taken from outside a coffee shop near the Haymarket Shopping Centre.

    Police have now released a CCTV image , externalof a woman they'd like to talk to.

    Councillor Nick Rushton spoke after the fire authority's budget meeting.

    Even though they approved fewer cuts than originally expected, he says there's still a lot of pressure on to reduce costs.

    He said: "We're tasking the chief fire officer to have an independent look at office space, vehicles, personnel, management structure, the whole lot and have a balanced budget for four years and no redundancies."

    As well as helping thousands of strays, Joyce has eight cats of her own.

    She says she's always loved cats because they're "wonderful company".

    Talking to BBC Radio Leicester she said: "If someone had a garden big enough and the will to do it we could provide the money to fund the sheds, it wouldn't cost them anything to set it up.

    "I think the pleasure you get out of doing it is better than any."

    Calling all cat lovers... this one's for you.

    A Loughborough woman is looking for someone to take over her cat sanctuary she set up 28 years ago.

    Joyce Harris and one of the cats shes helped

    Joyce Harris used the sanctuary to help her husband recover after a heart attack. Since then she's helped thousands of cats.

    At 83-year old Joyce now wants to retire and hand the reins over to someone else.

    The prime minister has said he will look at the issue of rising ticket prices at some football clubs. 

    The Football Supporters' Federation claims football stadiums will be filled with "tourists" waving "half and half scarves and taking selfies" if ticket prices rise further.

    A survey has shown that Leicester City fans are paying less than nearly all other Premier League football fans to see their team score a goal at home.

    City fans are paying just over £20, compared to the average fan's £34.40. Only Everton supporters pay less. 

    Arsenal is the most expensive with fans paying £65 per home goal.

    They also agreed to upgrade Market Harborough and Lutterworth stations to a "wholetime day crewed fire and rescue station".

    The Combined Fire Authority agreed on the following cost-cutting measures...

    They're going to remove one of the two fire engines from Loughborough and replace it with a Tactical Response Vehicle. This is a two-year pilot.

    An on-call fire engine in Melton, Coalville and Market Harborough will also be replaced with a Tactical Response Vehicle.

  16. Fire Authority approves revised planpublished at 14:38

    Do you remember that original plan by the Fire Authority to make huge cuts to Leicestershire's fire service, including closing Central and Kibworth fire stations?

    Well, it's emerged that 90% of people that responded during the consultation rejected the plans.

    Councillors have met today to approve the revised plan.

    It includes fewer cuts now the authority know they'll have an extra £2m from central government, after becoming the responsibility of the Home Office.

    He says: "They play fantastic football a bit different from other teams, the spirit they have is incredible and the pace they have when they start to counter attack is incredible, it's not one or two players, it's the whole team."
