    Donmez pleaded guilty to fraud and must pay back the full amount he stole within three months or face an extra two-and-a-half years in prison.

    Stuart Taylor from HMRC, said: “Donmez knew full well that he was breaking the law. In doing so he took money away from vital public services and there are no excuses for this type of criminal activity."

    A takeaway owner from Braunstone has been jailed for 28 months for stealing £165,000 in tax.

    Ozcan Donmez, who ran Superfry, withheld cash takings, hid his true wages and failed to declare income on two rental properties.

    The 33-year-old also supressed the weekly takings at his takeaway shop by half.

    The education secretary and Lougborough MP Nicky Morgan has been out in Leicestershire today calling for more students to take up Maths.

    She's went to Loughborough University's Sports Technology Institute where coaches explained how they use maths to help athletes to achieve their potential.

    A teenager has been detained for eight years for stabbing another teen he was trying to rob., external

    The 17-year-old boy was sent to a young offenders' institute being found found guilty of wounding and ABH in April last year.

    He'd been trying to steal mobile phones from two boys aged 15 and 17 in Larch Street in Leicester when he stabbed the the youngest in the chest and arm.

    Keen runners from Gartree High School in Oadby decided to run the entire "Leicester Round". 

    A 102 mile walk around Leicestershire's most beautiful spots.

    I joined part of the relay effort waiting by the duck pond in Hallaton village for their team mates to turn up.  

    It's taken the school all week to run the 102 miles but they should complete it this afternoon and expect to raise at least £5,000 for Sport Relief.

    Despite the cold, damp morning every child at Catherine Junior School off Belgrave Road was taking part in their Sport Relief Challenge, a sponsored mile run in fancy dress.

    The costumes were inventive and varied, the children enthused, and hundreds of pounds was raised.

    The 10 and 11-year-olds I spoke to said they really cared about the children they were raising money for and were looking forward to seeing Sport Relief tonight on BBC1 at 7pm..

    Yesterday Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante got their first international call-ups and although Claudio Ranieri said he was "pleased" for them, he's also admitted he's "worried".

    BBC News Online has more on the arrest of a 35-year-old man over a fatal crash involving a truck and a car that was being followed by police.

    We've had plenty of comments on our Facebook page, external about Leicester City giving free scarves to fans heading to tomorrow's match at Crystal Palace.

    Nick Thomas Southorn wrote: "This is a marvellous gesture - I can't believe some people are being negative about this. 

    "This is a remarkable season and the club are making it clear that the fans are part of the success, not just bankrolling it, like so many other clubs' fans."

    Leicester City are expected to get an invite to the International Champions Cup in the USA this summer.

    The prestigious tournament is quite exclusive - clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid were involved last year.

    The invite is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday.

  15. Air ambulance called to crash in Lountpublished at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2016

    There's been a serious crash in Nottingham Road in Lount this morning.

    The fire service has reported two vehicles collided, external and one was on its roof, trapping one person inside.

    They say the air ambulance was called and the doctor managed to release the trapped person. 

    Two people were taken to hospital in Nottingham.

    Owen Williams returns to the Leicester Tigers team on Sunday for their Premiership match against league leaders Saracens.

    Williams has made two appearances as a replacement since his recovery from a broken jaw and will start at centre alongside Peter Betham.

  19. Police watchdog investigates double death crashpublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2016

    The crash happened just before midnight on Wednesday 9 March and involved a van and a car which was being pursued by police.

    The two passengers in the car died at the scene while the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged.
