    Leicester mayor Sir Peter Soulsby has been speaking about Tigers' plans to take over the Granby Halls site. 

    "We've been reluctant until now to develop this site because it has been a very useful car park," he said. 

    "Now the Leicester Royal Infirmary have got their car park that has taken a lot of the pressure off that used to be there."

    Its fair to say that there's been a fair few Leicester City related songs around over the past few weeks but none of them compare to one Stewart Osgood has dusted off from the record box. 

    It's a 45 inch vinyl of a song called "Champions" and sung by the City team during the promotion-winning 1979/80 season. It also features an interview with then manager Jock Wallace.

    Just to put that figure of 430 ballots in some sort of context, it is worth pointing out Lord Willy Bach won the election with a majority of nearly 20,000. 

    19,883 to be precise.

    Andy McWilliams, the agent for the defeated UKIP candidate David Sprason, has told the BBC he made the complaint after a series of postal votes were rejected two days before the election last Thursday. 

    The UKIP official said around 30 of the ballots had signatures which didn't match with those on applications submitted for a postal vote. 

    He said 430 rejected ballots were being examined.

    Leicestershire Police is investigating an allegation of "electoral malpractice" following a complaint last week relating to postal votes in the election for police and crime commissioner in the county.

    The force says it is liaising with the Electoral Commission and the local authority.
