    The Lord Mayor of Leicester will hand over the chains today as he stands down from his year in charge. 

    It's pretty much just a ceremonial role but the mayor will usually carry out charitable duties.

    This morning BBC Radio Leicester were at Overdale Junior School in Leicester because their "The Spark" project was one of the charities Lord Mayor Ted Cassidy chose to support.

    The Leicester City players have been holding an open top bus victory parade in Bangkok today.

    It was organised by the clubs Thai owners.

    Our reporter over there says people lined the street but he only met three genuine fans. 

    Most of people were paid staff of King Power.

    We've managed to find a taxi driver who's been caught out by the new penalty points scheme

    He's been given four points for parking outside a takeaway because a private hire vehicle took his rank space.

    He said he was only parked for two minutes and the city council took a photo of his vehicle. He said he's going to appeal.

    Every brick is removed individually and by hand. The ones that need replacing have a yellow mark on them.

    Peter Falen says the faults in the bricks are just down to their age, he says they're starting to "delaminate".

    The wall is 14m high and being a prison, the contractors doing the work have had to be extra careful. 

    They're using cherry pickers to reach the high bits because scaffolding could make it easier for intruders to break in with contraband.

    That's not all. Peter Falen is the project manager and says: "You can't be working on the same panels interior and exterior because it could be an escape aid for prisoners.

    "It's called mirroring. If we were working on the same panel and a prisoner was able to get to our machinery inside he'd be able to climb up that one and then climb down the one on the outside so we work on alternate sides."

    If you've driven past Leicester Prison in the last few months you may have spotted the workmen there removing bricks from one of the walls - but don't worry it's not part of an escape plan!

    They're carrying out repair work to the Victorian building that's expected to cost nearly £1m.

    About 7,000 bricks are being replaced in the wall, which is one of the largest prison walls in the country.

    The city mayor faced numerous protests from the RMT union members when he announced he was going to trial the taxi driver points scheme.

    Sir Peter Soulsby stuck to his guns though.

    He says: "These figures make it clear that while the vast majority of the city's 2,000 or so licensed taxi drivers comply with the reasonable standards we expect from them, there are some who are falling short of that. 

    "We are now five months into that 12-month period, and I intend to let the pilot scheme run its course before deciding whether or not it should become permanent."

    The figures on penalty points handed out to taxi drivers could more than double very soon because there are 28 cases of potential rule-breaking the city council are yet to decide on.

    If a driver gets 12 points or more within three years, they risk having their licence taken off them. 

    This was one of the key conditions that caused the "go-slow" protests as the union feared it would put drivers out of work.

    There haven't been any cases of this happening yet.

    The other six cases were because the drivers had failed to go to a compulsory six-monthly vehicle safety check. 

     It's put the total number of points handed out at 104 since December.
