    "Faith and community groups working with rough sleepers have noticed a real rise in the number of rough sleepers that are using their provision. This is backed up by the official government figures that say rough sleeping has risen by 64% this year in Leicester. In addition to running the shelter, from December to February One Roof put people up in hotels as there have not been enough beds in the city."

    As someone who walks around the city centre most days I must admit I do see a lot of people claiming to be homeless but has the problem got worse?

    BBC Radio Leicester has been asking some of you.

    One person said: "When we do out on a Saturday night there seems to be more in the doorways - mainly around the Fenwick area."

    Another said: "There are clearly more on the streets than there were before. I don't know the full reason for that."

    A charity working with rough sleepers in Leicester is accusing the city mayor of not doing enough to tackle the problem. 

    One Roof has said the council is underestimating the number of people on the streets.

    Figures by the Department for Communities and Local Government suggest 36 people are sleeping rough on Leicester's streets - 14 more than last year.

    But the city council's official rough sleeping figure is 16.
