    It'll be cloudy and mainly dry again tonight, clear spells will develop overnight with a risk of isolated fog patches.

    A generally cloudy Saturday morning but possibly some bright or sunny spells . Cloud thickening through the afternoon, with some patchy drizzle.

    Last week I told you fans of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet had set up a consortium to discuss concern about the future of the Windmill Inn in Redmile.

    The pub that features in the second series of the comedy is up for sale as the owners plan to retire but there's concern that whoever buys it might try to turn it into housing.

    To try and overcome this the fan group has announced they're going to try and buy it.

    They've teamed up with the local community with an aim to raise £500,000.

    The consortium said they're not doing it for financial gain but to save the pub and create a social hub for the village.

    The incident involving armed police in the New Parks area of Leicester has ended.

    After 10 hours of police negotiating with a man inside a flat on Keightley Road they've told us it finished "peacefully" without injury.

    The 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences. A 48-year-old woman who was also inside the flat is unharmed. 

    The road is to be re-opened shortly and people living inside the cordon area are being told it's safe for them to leave their homes.

    Police have discovered nearly 2,000 cannabis plants in two houses on Uppingham Road in Houghton on the Hill.

    No-one has yet been arrested but police said investigations are continuing.

    A man found dead at a house in Ashby yesterday afternoon died from stab wounds.

    The woman who was also inside the property on Holland Crescent had also suffered serious stab wounds and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

    No one has been arrested and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened.

    Police said the dead man is yet to be formally identified.

    A science teacher who took legal highs with a student and watched as another one took Viagra has been banned from teaching for life.

    Robert Roskelly, 33, a teacher at Winstanley Community College, Leicester, also admitted staying the night at a pupil's house.

    The National College for Teaching and Leadership found him guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.

    He was banned from teaching indefinitely.

  10. Investigation into cause of death in Ashbypublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2017

    Police have released an update on the investigation in Ashby where a man was found dead and a woman seriously injured in a house.

    They've said the woman is still in a critical but stable condition in hospital at Walsgrave hospital in Coventry.

    A post mortem examination on the man's body was due to be carried out today.

    Detective Chief Inspector Jonny Starbuck said: “We still have extensive further inquiries to make, both at the scene, and into the background of the man and woman involved, but at this stage I do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident.”

    Police have released an update about the ongoing incident in New Parks.

    They've said they are continuing to negotiate with a man in a flat on Keightley Road.

    He has refused to leave the property and will not allow officers inside. It's thought one other person is in the flat with him, police said.

    People living nearby are still being asked to stay indoors until the situation has been resolved.

    Police have formally identified the man, external who died after being found injured in the street near Leicester railway station in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

    He was 30-year-old Dilovan Fazil Mohammed (pictured), of no fixed address.  

    A man, 30, who has been arrested on suspicion of Mr Mohammed's murder , remains in police custody, Leicestershire Police said.

    Paul Norman, who lives nearby, has just spoken to BBC East Midlands Today about what he saw earlier this morning.

    He said: "I got a phone call off a friend... and I looked round the back and there was a policeman with a gun and a policeman with a dog. 

    "There were all these cars parked up on my front - it was just like watching one of them TV programmes."
