  17. Parish council trials security firm in villagepublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 15 June 2017

    Maryam Qaiser

A parish council has been trialing the use of a private security firm - after concerns had been raised about anti-social behaviour in a village and the perceived lack of a police presence there.

Magpie Security has been driving around car parks and secluded areas in Lowdham to tackle the problem on behalf of Lowdham Parish Council.

The council's chairman, councillor Jacqueline Finn, said: "There is a definite feeling that the police are not sufficiently interested in coming to the village.

"As to how successful it is, they clearly have been persuading people not to use the car parks, that has definitely been more noticeable."

    Paddy Tipping

Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, says crime is not a big problem in Lowdham and thinks it is unlikely the experiment will continue.
