    The Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough says he "always liked" full-back Stephen Warnock, after signing him on a one-year deal, following his release by Wigan.

    The 35-year-old made 48 appearances for the Latics last season as they were relegated to League One.

    Warnock, who has two England caps, has also played for Liverpool, Blackburn, Aston Villa, Leeds and Derby.

    Police in Leicester are warning of a lottery scam that's seen victims conned out of almost £200,000.

    At least 20 people have fallen victim so far - all older Asian men.

    They are approached by someone claiming to have a winning lottery ticket.

    They tell the victim they are an illegal immigrant and can't collect the winnings but offer to sell them the ticket.

    In some cases as much as £50,000 in cash and jewellery has been taken.

    This is the scene at St. Mary's Church in Hinckley ahead of the funerals of Adam and Matthew Stokes.

    The bodies of Adam, 11, and Matthew, five, were found by police at their home in Welwyn Road, on 2 November following a disturbance.

    David Stokes, 43, was found dead from a stab wound. The children's mother, Sally Stokes, was injured at the house and was treated in hospital.

    Leicestershire Police said the cause of the boys' deaths had not yet been "conclusively ascertained".

    No arrests have been made and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

    Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire near Owthorpe, near Cotgrave.

    40 tonnes of bailed rubbish, trees and undergrowth are alight.

    The fire crews are set to remain on the scene for the rest of the day, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue added.

    Firefighters were called out in the early hours of Saturday morning to a fire at the same site.

    The winner of the Nottinghamshire Food and Drink Awards has caused confusion - because the restaurant is actually in Derbyshire.

    La Rock, in Sandiacre has an NG post code, but the town is actually in the borough of Erewash in Derbyshire.

    The Nottingham Post, which organised the competition, has defended the decision by saying the restaurant has long been popular with its readers.

    Meanwhile, Nick Gillespie, the restaurant's owner and chef, said: "We're really lucky to be right on the border.

    "Our clients come from Derbyshire as well as Nottinghamshire...we're a Nottingham postcode, a Nottingham address, but Derbyshire apparently by border."

    Former Nottingham Forest player John Metgod has been appointed to the club's board of directors.

    Metgod, a former Dutch international, made more than 100 appearances during a three-year spell at The City Ground.

    "From the outset we wanted a former player with experience of both English and Continental football to sit with us on the Board to enhance our football knowledge," Forest chairman Nicholas Randall QC told the club's official website., external

    "John was our first choice and he can provide the Board with the benefit of his vast experience of football and provide a link between the owners, with their experience of running a Club in Europe's elite, and the English game."

    The chairman of Derbyshire County Cricket Club has said hosting Women's World Cup games could help secure a new generation of supporters for cricket locally.

    A crowd of 3,000 turned up to the County Ground on Saturday to watch India beat England in the opening match of the tournament.

    "If you look around, a lot of the people you see are not the normal people [who would attend cricket] and I think that is really important," Ian Morgan told BBC Radio Derby.

    "The game is losing interest amongst the traditional supporters. We have to attract a new audience in and it is events like this doing that."

    Staff from a theme park have come to the rescue of Belper's Mr Potato Head...

    The figure, which is outside the town's Methodist church, had its arm ripped off by vandals last week.

    But after an appeal by the town's former mayor, staff from Guillver's Kingdom in Matlock Bath stepped up to help.

    Jim Topliss, from the attraction, said: "We have a few figures and models for the children to play with and quite often they get parts of them ripped off.

    "So we are used to repairing arms and legs of cowboys, Indians, pirates and dinosaurs."

    Mr Potato Head was a gift to Belper from its twin town Pawtucket in Rhode Island, USA, home to the original children's toy.
