    Former England boss Sam Allardyce has ruled himself of taking the vacant managerial position at Leicester City.

    The Foxes are looking for a new boss after sacking Craig Shakespeare earlier this week and Allardyce has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace in May.

    Allardyce, 62, told Talksport radio, external that while he would be interested in the Leicester job at some point, now was not the right time as he was enjoying his life too much.

    Meanwhile, Leicester's caretaker manager, Michael Appleton, is due to speak to the media later ahead of his side's trip to Swansea at the weekend.

    Nigel Clough has admitted he would be interested in following in his father's footsteps and managing Nottingham Forest, but it won't be happening soon.

    Burton Albion boss Clough turned down the Forest job earlier this year, as the Reds went on to appoint Mark Warburton.

    But Clough, who takes his Burton Albion side to the City Ground on Saturday, has not completely ruled out managing Forest like his father, Brian.

    "Maybe [I'd be interested] in about five years time when Mark's had enough at Forest and the chairman's had enough of us here at Burton," he said.

    "You never know [what will happen] down the line."

    A delegation of business leaders from China are starting a four-day visit to Derby today.

    The trip, external, organised after the city council formed a partnership with the city of Hefei last year, will see the group of 17 visiting Rolls-Royce, Pride Park Stadium and other investment opportunities around the city.

    The visit will conclude with a trip to the Peak District on Sunday.

    An East Midlands MEP has said her new role as deputy leader of UKIP will be crucial in order to "help shape the future of the UK".

    Margot Parker, one of the party's two representatives for the East Midlands in the European Parliament, was appointed by to the position by the recently-elected UKIP leader Henry Bolton.

    "I was both delighted and honoured to be asked by Henry to become the party’s deputy leader," Ms Parker said.

    "It is time for everyone in UKIP to pull together and drive the party forward over the next few years.

    "I will continue my work as an MEP to ensure a clean Brexit and to fight for what is best for the country.

    "I will also be working closely with our new leader and his team over the next 18 months or so – a crucial period which will help shape the future of the UK."

    Firearms officers raced to a street in Derby city centre last night after several people reported seeing a man carrying a knife.

    Derbyshire Police said a man was arrested in the Uttoxeter Old Road area, external shortly after 21:15 and a large knife was found nearby.

    The 27-year-old, from Edwalton in Notts, remains in custody after being questioned on suspicion of possessing a knife.

    Here are the cranes moving a new footbridge into place over the Grand Union Canal in Leicester.

    Once it is in position, it will allow people to walk and cycle between Abbey Park and Belgrave Road.

    Controversial plans for a major development on the site of a former colliery will be considered by councillors later.

    Up to 800 homes are earmarked for the old Thoresby Pit, which closed just over two years ago with the loss of 600 jobs.

    Plans also include a primary school, country park and business opportunities.

    But some people in Edwinstowe are concerned about the scale of the development and the impact on roads.

    Young people will have the chance to win an apprenticeship at a top record label or music company as part of a new scheme funded by the Brit Awards.

    One of the ten positions available to youngsters interested in applying is based in Leicester., external

    Brit Awards chief executive Geoff Taylor said: "These apprenticeships are like golden tickets and will open up a range of opportunities for 10 talented individuals who are passionate about working at a record label or in a music company."

    The scheme, which is open to people aged 18 or over, starts in January 2018 and will run for 14 months.

    The deadline for applications is 17 November.

    A family had to be rescued early this morning after running out of fuel while driving along the M1, external.

    Derbyshire's road policing unit said the children were left "hysterical" following near misses with passing vehicles and said it was "unacceptable" the driver had failed to notice the car was running low.

    A man has been arrested, external over allegations a video containing racist language was shared on social media.

    Derbyshire Police said the 20-year-old was detained after the force received a number of complaints about the clip.

    He was questioned last night and released while investigations continue.
