    A family is celebrating a landmark birthday they thought they would never see.

    Callum Farmer from Clifton was born at the QMC 18 years ago today, weighing just one pound and three ounces.

    He was 119 days premature - more than four months - and doctors said his chances of survival were slim. Only about 5% of babies born that early are likely to survive.

    His mum Louise said it was a "special and exciting moment" when Callum started school in 2005.

    She said the first two years were "difficult" because Callum was poorly in hospital.

    She added: "Just don't give up hope, it is quite a roller coaster but obviously Callum proves that miracles can happen and we are really, really lucky to have him."

    A 26-year-old man from Leicester is one of six people charged with belonging to banned far-right terror group National Action.

    Daniel Bogunovic, 26, of Crown Hills Rise, Leicester, is due at Westminster Magistrates' Court later accused of being "concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism".

    Four men and a woman from across the country will also appear before magistrates today.

    It follows arrests carried out by counter-terrorism police around England on 3 January.

  4. Ambulance crews 'involved in 90 crashes'published at 08:32 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2018

    Crews for East Midlands Ambulance Service were involved in 90 crashes which weren't their fault, the service said.

    EMAS said the incidents happened over an eight month period and is asking drivers not to panic when they see flashing blue lights and hear sirens.

    Instead it is urging people to stay calm and look for somewhere to safely pull over.
