    Taxis in Derby are in an "unacceptably poor" condition, according to the police

    Derby City Council is now proposing to introduce age limits for the vehicles.

    This means by 2020 licences might not be renewed if the taxi is more than 10-years-old and there will be more regular testing.

    A guided bus on concrete rails could be coming to the East Midlands to get passengers to the region's proposed High Speed Railway station.

    Several places already have guided busways - like Cambridgeshire, Luton and Ipswich.

    East Midlands Councils is spending £1m on a study called "Gateways" looking at how to get passengers to the HS2 hub in Toton.

    It's thought a guided bus connecting Derby and East Midlands Airport to the hub would be significantly cheaper than a tram.

    The findings from the study are expected to be revealed in spring 2019.

    Police have confirmed the driver who died in the "serious crash" on the A50 last night was a man.

    Another male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the crash near the Toyota Island last night.

    The death of a stillborn baby was "almost certainly preventable", according to an independent investigation.

    Jack and Sarah Hawkins believe there were "gross errors and mismanagement" in their care, which led to their daughter Harriet's death.

    The Hawkins lost Harriet after almost 41 weeks of pregnancy on 17 April 2016 at Nottingham City Hospital.

    Nottingham University Hospitals Trust has "offered their deepest sympathy" to the couple and has "profoundly apologised for letting them down so badly".

    Sarah said they were waiting for the report to be published before holding a funeral for Harriet.
