    A 22-year-old man has been charged with allegedly hurling a coin at rival supporters, external during Leicester City's match against Everton on Saturday.

    Leicestershire Police said a member of the public helped them detain the man after he tried to run away from officers.

    He has subsequently been charged with throwing a missile in a spectator area and a public order offence.

    Police said they also want to trace the man who helped them to thank him personally.

    Derby County manager Frank Lampard was inducted into the Legends of Football Hall of Fame, external at a ceremony in London last night.

    The former England and Chelsea midfielder follows in the footsteps of Brian Clough, Sir Alex Ferguson, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard in receiving the honour from the Nordoff Robbins charity and the Premier League.

    A quanitity of cigarettes were stolen during a burglary at a Tesco store in Ollerton.

    The alarm went off at the Forest Road supermarket at 03:57 yesterday. Police believe three offenders took part in the theft.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses.

    The chairman of Leicester's Race Equality Centre has criticised a GCSE textbook which he says contains stereotypes against Caribbean families.

    A paragraph in an AQA Sociology textbook reads: "In Caribbean families, the fathers and husbands are largely absent and women assume the most responsibility in childrearing."

    Professor Surinder Sharma, from the centre, said: "I think this is a very lazy way of about writing about Caribbean families. It’s not researched well, it’s stereotyping families and I think this is wrong.

    "It’s such drivel really. I’m surprised the exam board didn’t pick this up beforehand."

    The exam board, AQA, say they do not publish the textbook themselves and will be investigating and taking any necessary action, while Hodder Publishing have stopped supplying the text for sale.

    People living on Derby's Warwick Avenue are calling for fixed speed cameras to be installed on the road after a number of crashes.

    Barnaby Parkes, 23, from Allestree, died in the latest accident when his Volvo crashed into a tree on Sunday evening.

    Police have not confirmed whether speeding was a factor in the crash.

    One resident said: "I’ve got nieces and nephews who are secondary school students but we don’t feel safe letting them use Warwick Avenue at all."

    However Nick North from East Midlands Advanced Drivers said he did not believe fixed cameras would be the answer.

    Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell has been called up to the England squad for the Nations League clashes against Croatia and Spain.

    The Foxes left-back will travel to play Croatia in Rijeka on Friday, before the Three Lions jet off to play Spain at Real Betis' Estadio Benito Villamarín in Seville on Monday.

    Chilwell made his international bow last month at the King Power Stadium in a friendly against Switzerland.

    He joins fellow Foxes James Maddison and Harry Maguire in the squad.

    A man and a woman have been arrested after a man was attacked this morning, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

    Police were called to Melbourne Street, Normanton, at 04:20 this morning to a 37-year-old man who suffered neck injuries consistent with a stabbing.

    A 41-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman have been arrested.

    A cordon remains in place as the investigation continues.
