A production of To Kill A Mockingbird which was due to open at Leicester's Curve Theatre next month has been cancelled.

It's after a threat of legal action from producers who are putting on a Broadway version of the same story - and believe they have worldwide exclusivity.

Jonathan Church Productions - the company behind the version which was due to open in Leicester - said they believed they had the correct licence.

But, in a joint statement with Curve, they said that launching a legal battle would have been costly and lengthy, and as no agreement could be reached, they were "deeply saddened to have been forced" to cancel the whole tour.

The show is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Harper Lee and had been due to run in the city from 7 to 16 February, before going on a UK and Ireland tour.

Two key routes through the Peak District are shut for a second day because of bad weather.

Both Snake Pass and Winnats Pass, near Castelton, were closed after yesterday's snow and have yet to reopen. The A6024, or Holme Cross, was closed but has now reopened.

But Derbyshire County Council is hoping to open them later in the day with the help of some grit.
