A man who tried to shoot and kill another man in a Derby street has been jailed for 25 years.
Adam Yunus, of Hamstead Road, Birmingham, admitted having the gun and pulling the trigger but denied he intended to kill the man in Coleridge Street, in April last year.
However, after a seven-week trial at Derby Crown Court the 26-year-old was found guilty of attempted murder.
The trial heard he had shot a man in the back and fled the scene going on the run for a month.
Yunus denied attempted murder but admitted three firearms offences and one count of causing grievous bodily harm. As well as the 25 year jail term, he will serve an additional five years on licence.
