Riley Jake Jackson died in the blaze on Shaw Street West in October. An inquest yesterday was told it was caused by the bulb of a bedside lamp which fell near where he was sleeping.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said three fire engines were sent to the fire - crews went inside and managed to bring Riley out but he later died in hospital.
Station manager Adam Hind said: "We go to save people's lives and they did all that they could. It's very sad.
"Measures are put in place to support our firefighters - we come back to work the next day to do it all again."

The club's chief operating officer, Anthony Redwood, said: "Win on Saturday and we're almost guaranteed promotion.

An American Football team in Leicester has hit out at the sport's governing body after a last-minute rule change left four of their top players unable to play.
Leicester Falcons entered a partnership with Baker University in Kansas, USA and the University of Derby earlier this year which would see four American players join the Falcons while studying in the United Kingdom.
On Thursday, the British American Football Association (BAFA) announced a rule change, external which would mean foreign nationals on a visitor visa or who had not been in the country for six months would not be eligible to play, three days before the Falcons' first game of the season.
General manager, Guy Kersey, said: "In setting up the scholarship partnership with Baker and Derby we did our due diligence and covered all legal bases, keeping BAFA in the loop all the way, so to have this dropped on us as the 2019 season is about to begin is nothing short of disgraceful."
BAFA chairwoman Nichole McCulloch said: "We agree this was not ideal, and on behalf of BAFA I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused our members and their clubs."
The Falcons say they are seeking legal advice over the decision.
