A homeless patient stayed at a Nottingham hospital for at least 462 days, the British Medical Association (BMA) has said.
The patient's stay in Nottingham University hospitals was revealed in a report from BMA-obtained figures which showed the number of homeless people attending a hospital emergency department in England has at least tripled in eight years.
The BMA found there were at least 36,000 patients of no fixed abode in A&E during 2018-19, up from 11,305 in 2010-11.
The figures also showed 49 hospital trusts said homeless patients had stayed in hospital for at least three weeks.
The BMA believes the figures show a fraction of the reality, with the true numbers "likely to be far higher".

Matthew Horne says he thinks the upcoming Gavin and Stacey Christmas special is "the best we have ever done".
The Nottinghamshire-born actor, who plays Gavin in the series, is in the city today to receive an honorary degree from Nottingham Trent University.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham most people think he's from Essex - where his fictional character originates - but he is in fact from Burton Joyce.
He added he never expected the Bafta-winning show to get so big, and that audiences "would take it so fully into their hearts".
He said: "I've been asked for the last 10 years whether we are going to bring it back. We've always said no and [the writers] have said they would only do it again if they had a story to tell and could meet people's expectations.
"Of course you still go in with some trepidation and some anxiety that we're going to be able to remember how to act together and meet those expectations.
"But I've seen it and in my opinion this is the best we have ever done. You will laugh, cry and get that warm feeling."

Several cars seized from three men who were convicted for a series of ATM raids are being sold by Leicestershire Police on eBay.
Charlie Smith, Alfred Adams and John Doran were jailed in April 2018.
Now, under a confiscation order, their BMWs and Mercedes cars, designer clothing, high-value jewellery and Royal Crown Derby china have been taken by police for re-sale.
Leicestershire Police was the first force in 2008 to use the auction website to sell property recovered under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
“This site is hugely beneficial for us in generating income from property which would just lie in storage or over time be destroyed," said Paul Wenlock from the force.
"In the last seven months we have sold more than £230,000 worth of goods on the site."
The money from the items is then submitted to the Home Office before it is split between the force, victims, courts and the criminal justice system.
