    A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for Leicestershire, Rutland and parts of Nottinghamshire, external.

    The Met Office said the alert is in place from 23:00 today until 10:00 tomorrow.

    In Nottinghamshire, the east of the county, including Newark-on-Trent and Bingham, are affected.

    The warning means icy patches could lead to some difficult driving conditions.

    A van is stuck in flood water in Countesthorpe Road, South Wigston.

    Leicestershire and Rutland’s 4X4 Response said the water was 2ft (0.6m) deep and the van had been stuck there since 04:00.

    The rescue team said the vehicle was still waiting to be recovered and they warned people not to drive into flood water.

    The road - near Crow Mill Bridge - was closed this morning, said Leicestershire Police.

    Passer-by Kimberley Johnson said the road was taped off when she was there at about 08:20.

    The A47 in Rutland was also closed overnight due to flooding but re-opened this morning.

    However, Rutland Council has said there is still widespread surface water on all of Rutland's roads and asked people to drive with caution.

    Several flood alerts are in place across the region this Christmas Eve.

    They have been issued for a number of areas, external including the Lower Derwent at Draycott in Derbyshire, the River Leen and Day Brook at Bulwell in Nottinghamshire and the River Sence in the South Wigston area of Leicestershire.

    The Environment Agency said a flood alert means flooding is possible and people should be prepared.
