  2. Engineers to assess evacuated apartment blockpublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2016

    Structural experts will examine the stability of Grimsby's Victoria Mills this afternoon after the building was evacuated yesterday.

    Residents in more than 70 properties were told to stay out by North East Lincolnshire Council because of fears over the block's stability in high winds.

    They were found alternative accommodation for the night. Angela Blake from the council says every effort's being made to resolve the situation.

  3. Search for stolen Buddha and terracotta warriorspublished at 12:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2016

    Police are searching for a 3ft tall Buddha and two 5ft tall terracotta warriors after a raid on a reclamation yard in Grimsby.

    Officers say they were taken by thieves in an early hours break-in last Friday.

    Also taken were a bronze-effect boar, two smaller Buddhas and a 2ft 6ins Buddha head.

    There are calls from the Road Haulage Association today for clearer guidance on what's meant by a "high -sided vehicle".

    It comes after a lorry was blown over on the Humber Bridge, external yesterday - leaving it closed for several hours.

    The Association says a clearer definition of what "high-sided" is would help drivers avoid ending up in situations like this.

    We've just heard that Lincolnshire County Council's executive has approved a plan to save £40m next year.

    That includes a £2m cut from the county's £6m transport budget - and that means fewer bus services.

    On BBC Radio Lincolnshire's breakfast show this morning I asked the man in charge of transport in the county where the axe will fall. Here's what he said:

    Members of Lincolnshire County Council's executive have agreed next year's budget, but it still requires final rubber stamping.

    In the last few minutes an increase of just under 4% in council tax has been voted through at County Offices in Lincoln.

    It was a packed meeting - cuts of £40m under discussion - and as predicted bus service subsidies and PCSO funding are in the firing line. 

    All 77 councillors will have to vote on the budget on 19 February before it's finally implemented.

    At the end of last year we were telling you how Lincoln County Hospital was crippled by the winter vomiting bug norovirus.

    Now the full extent of the outbreak has been revealed. 

    I'm at a meeting of the hospital's trust in Boston where managers have said around 200 patients were affected.

    Executives have been told 16 wards were affected at the peak of the outbreak with 11 wards closed to new patients at one time adding £300,000 to operating costs.

    The latest ambulance response times show Lincolnshire is the best performing county in the region.  

    But Sue Noyes, the woman who runs East Midlands Ambulance Service says the organisation's facing a number of challenges.

    Lincoln City's manager Chris Moyses has confirmed Barnsley striker George Maris will join the Imps on loan.

    The 19-year-old striker's been in training with the Sincil Bank squad over the last few weeks.

    Four dogs were rescued from a house in Scunthorpe yesterday after they were found by police carrying out a drugs raid.

    Officers had to call in the RSPCA after finding one dog dead at the house on Diana Street and four others elsewhere at the property.

    An investigation's taking place both into the death of the dog and into suspicions the house was being used to grow cannabis.

    The man in charge of public transport in Lincolnshire has admitted cutbacks will see some services cancelled.

    Councillor Richard Davies, of Lincolnshire County Council,  told BBC Radio Lincolnshire "some" of the 160 services currently in the spotlight "will go".

    The authority says it has to cut subsidies for bus routes which don't make a profit - councillors will vote on the changes later today.

  20. Woman rescued from beach mud at Cleethorpespublished at 08:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2016

    A woman had to be rescued last night after she got stuck in the mud for more than two hours in Cleethorpes. 

    The Coastguard was called when a passer-by spotted her in difficulties on the beach near the pier.

    Dave Hardy, from the coastguard, said: "All we ask is that people check the tide times before they go out, wear suitable clothes and above all, have a way of calling for help if they do find themselves in difficulty."
